Grrrr.

Ever wish you could just learn things the easy way sometimes, rather than the hard way?

Yesterday, I went for the first time to an accupuncturist. I've had back issues forever, and I get really bad migraines, and my Chinese family practitioner back in NoVa had told me several time to try accupuncture, so I finally overcame my fear of needles and went in.

The needles were the easy part. The rest was torture. She did this technique called "cupping", where she creats a vaccuum in this glass cup and puts it on my back to relive the pain. She told me, AFTER she had started this, that oh by the way you might get purple marks on your back. I look (and feel) like I've been beaten. It's horrible. She also burned some herbs on my back (yes, you read that right), and the smoke and smell alone gave me a headache while I was there. I had to tell her I was feeling nauseated, because I had needles in the back of my neck, and I didn't think getting sick would be a pleasant experience. My first task when I got home was to take ANOTHER shower to get the smell off.

I got zero sleep last night, I am so sore. Laying my head on my pillow was painful. And my back still hurt. And I'm out 70 bucks. And I'm so mad at myself that I could just give me a good smack.

And I just get so mad because all the gym stuff I do makes my back hurt more. But I can't stop - I can never stop - because then I gain all the weight back and my medical issues get worse. I will forever have to go to the gym 4 days a week, up to 2 hours a day. That's a depressing and daunting look at the future.

I am so not in a good mood today. I'm mad about everything. I'm mad about the stupid song stuck in my head. I'm mad that I hurt like hell. I'm mad that I had to decline an offer for a date because the guy bored the bejeebers out of me. I'm mad that I had a date with a guy I actually liked and now I have to either be patient and see if he asks me out again, or be "forward" and get in touch with him (I HATE that). I'm mad that it's cold. I'm mad that I got no sleep. I'm mad that it's Monday. I'm mad that it's been 2 months and I still can't get into my new office building due to all the red tape.

I don't mean to drag you down, but it's my blog and I'll vent if I want to.

If it makes you feel any better (at least better than burning herbs) I'm a little pissed too.
I spent $300 to get my bike ready for the spring, and there's no spring. Our baseball team sucks, and I have tickets for 8 games. I'm stuck in the gym rut, too, because there's no other way. Blogging has gotten tedious and I haven't been on a date in 6 years. I'd settle for boring.

So, no matter how crappy it may seem, there are others who feel your pain, though not in the back.

Oh, Carmen...
I'm so sorry you are having such a time of it. It's totally okay to have a pissy day.
Hope it gets better - fast.

Oh Wow, if it weren't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all. Hope you get some sleep...Things always look better if you are well rested. (btw...it's ok to be mad!) virtual hugs coming your way.

Carmen.....I've never heard of such actions the acupuncturist took upon you!!! If I were you, I'd check into this....it doesn't sound right.

My sister goes to one, and she's never had that done to her....ever!!

For your Monday woes, I'll leave you with this....hope it'll make you smile sometime soon----

It's her blog and she'll
Vent if she wants to
Vent if she wants to...

Thanks. Now I've got that song in my head.

I guess on the bright side, at least your date went better than the accupuncture :)

you know the accupuncture may work if once the pain subsides, though I am not sure if that is really good news.

good for you, I cant even motivate myself to walk!

I vent all the time in my blog, just so I dont bore my wife with my troubles. she hears them all the time. Thats what your readers are here for, to hear you vent.

Have you enacted the two day rule?

Vent all you want, Carmen, and I hope it makes you feel better! I've heard of cupping...is it supposed to make you feel better right away or does it take awhile?

I was mad I missed the cherry blossoms and that it was so freakin' cold in DC yesterday!

I am so sorry you are MAD! Me Too! Glad I am not the only one.

Sorry your visit to the acupuncturist was not so good. I have found, from my practice and as a client, some people are just super sensitive. And, not all therapists take that into consideration.

I would say I am sending good thoughts your way, but my are so ugly they would just bring you down. ;)

Wow! I don't think I would want to return to that accupuncturist. I really hope that you feel better soon and that it works. Nothing I hate worse than spending money and it not working. DH was having bad back pain for a long time and I talked him into seeing a chiropractor. We hated the chiro as they were trying to sell us on this stupid "health care plan" (the way they make their money) but DH hasn't had a problem with his back since.
I've found that listening to other songs helps with the dumb song in head problem. I'm so sorry about the other problems...I don't have any solutions for that. And our weather is bad too, but it seems it might get better soon as I can see the sun today.
It's okay to vent here...we're a very vent friendly place here in the blogsphere.

(((((((Hugs))))))) (that's the first step) ... Now, Carmen -- I've never been to an acupuncturist - though I have thought about trying it out myself. BUT... what I do know - and surely you know this from chiropractic - is that SOMEtimes the treatment makes the problem WORSE before it gets better! Give it about 3 days and see if you STILL feel this way about it. And did she tell you to ICE anything? And even if she didn't, DID you? Because if there is PAIN there should definitely be ICE involved!

As for all the other little gripes... and you certainly ARE entitled to vent them! ... I'm pretty sure that most of them are due to the lack of sleep and the pain. (and is there ANY chance you're PMSing right now?) As for the job... I know it's a headache - but you're getting a paycheck, right? So, NOT having you there (in the office) is probably even more of a pain to your employers than it is to you? No? I'm sure it will get worked out... Boy I'm SORRY you are having such a rough day! I am sending prayers!

Bummer. I so get the do the gym or medical stuff gets worse. I've let it go by the wayside, and I so am paying. But... we can still vent when we need to. :)

yuck, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I've had acupuncture done before and it was great, really helped.
Feel better, get some rest and be forward, just call him.

I've had accupuncture but not cupping (I've seen it done on TV). I don't know if I believe in that stuff but I don't disbelieve.

Ack! So sawry - about your back and the gym and the men. Good to know that accupuncture may not be the way to go. I'm sure there are really skilled ones out there, but how to find them?? Cool on the guy you like though! Was it that one guy you gave your number to at the bar? Well, it wasn't a bar, but that place you went to alone? Rambling, shutting up now.
