Memory Lane

(Anyone who really knows me would find this next sentence nearly unbelievable.) I was cleaning last week. Not the normal kind of cleaning. The down-and-dirty kind where you throw stuff away and then gag at the things you find behind that stuff that's been sitting there next to forever.

Well, I had this box that I had never unpacked from my move into my condo (going on 6 years ago.) Inside it I found a Walkman (and just dated myself). There was a tape inside labeled "Singing Favorites". I thought it was kind of interesting to listen to that tape and see what my favorite songs were from a while back. My favorite of those favorites was "I Saw the Light" By Wynona. :)

What's your favorite song from back-in-tha-day? Whatever day that would be for you. :)

I choke on the very first part....about the cleaning? Too funny. Sounds like our daughter AND son. Especially our son...he doesn't do windows. LOLOLOL

But lordy girl!!! "I saw the Light" by Wynona? That's YOUR version of 'back in the day' song? I could go way back to Beethoven probably I'm that ancient. Okay....how 'bout "Do you think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart. Lordy...that's just a few decades ago...

And congrats on the Christmas Tree Contest! So deserving!!!!

Happy hollydaze.

Any time I hear "Wild Wild West" by Escape Club, "Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns n Roses, or "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure, I can't help but sing at the top of my lungs.

I don't even know that I would have a tape player on which to play a tape if I found one!

I could probably pick something from each decade that I've been around.

the 00's "All Star" - Smash Mouth
the 90's "Ironic" - Alanis Morissette
the 80's "No More Words" - Berlin
the 70's "Live & Let Die" - Paul McCartney & Wings
the 60's "... well I was only here for a few years then and really too young to notice, but I liked the Beatles when I was a kid.

course now I listen to mostly Christian music and my favs are Newsboys, Mark Shultz, & Aaron Shust. And I asked for a Todd Agnew CD for Christmas.

I think mine have to be "Glycerine" by Bush, "Possum Kingdom" by The Toadies, or "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure. I also like "Peaches" by Presidents of the United States of America. I think it just depends on the day or my mood to be honest!

OK, let me preface this by saying, "I am NOT this old, but..." One of my faves is Simon and Garfunkel's "Ceceila." It's just fun - how can you not sing along?? I was a very strange child and would actually sit and listen to this S & G album (record not CD!) that my dad had. It really does explain a lot.

Bon Jovi, definitely. And Aerosmith, and Journey. Ooo, then there's the entire Styx collection.

It's like Lay's potato chips.

but Aha's "Take On Me" was my favorite for a long time, or Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus"

Dorothy admires the cleaning. Turn up the radio and the time will pass.

I have many, many faves...last one I heard on the radio and couldn't help it but sing along was Blondie's "Maria"

Mariaaaaaa, you've got to see her,

OK ... "back in the day", I used to love "Roundabout" by Yes or "Lucky Man" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

That was BD - Before Downloads. We had to buy the records ... Oh God - records!

I don't know if I can narrow it down. I used to love Michael Jackson, Journey, and TLC.
