Thursday 13 v. 35 - The Ugly One

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thirteen of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
  1. The Good: I am curently employed
  2. The Bad: Companies are run by stupid people.
  3. The Ugly: Friend Irish's company just changed their healthcare plan to basically screw any employee that ever plans on actually using a doctor.
  4. The Good: I've lost 11 pounds.
  5. The Bad: I am obsessed about what I eat and how I work out. Those pounds are NEVER coming back.
  6. The Ugly: The things that people wear to the gym frighten me. There is NEVER a need for a leotard. There is no need for makeup and lipstick. There IS a need for deoderant.
  7. The Good: I own my home
  8. The Bad: The housing market is such that it will be hard to sell it.
  9. The Ugly: Having to deal with a condo association that is also run by stupid people. Why would you continue to use a roofing company that can't fix a roof? Because they give you a good price to do something wrong?
  10. The Good: I enjoy having a cat friend sharing my home
  11. The Bad: He eats food that costs $20 a case!
  12. The Ugly: Vet bills. 'Nuf said.
  13. The Good: I finished the 13. The Bad: I chose a topic that was divisible by 3. The Ugly: I hate math.

That was a great list! And funny. I'm so with ya regarding math, ugh - you did good. Yes, the gym is always good for a laugh!

great list idea. Who cares it it doesn't work into 13.

    I like the 3s!

    Good concept!

You have a job and own your home! Awesome! I have a job, I'm a lab assistant, but every seems to be leaving next year so I might not have anyone to assist!

Crap about those health plans - hope your friend stays healthy! I heard on the radio that medication for cervical cancer didn't make the aussie cheap pharmaceuticals list. So people who sleep around unprotected and get genital herpes can get their $100 meds for $20 but people who might be entirely responsible with their sex live and happen to get cancer have to pay $430!

    Anyway, have a great Thursday!

what an awesome idea for a TT!
and, yea, it's good to be employed.

glad that you've lost 11 pounds! that's great! I'm trying, but not getting very far.

    I hate math too!!

I'm up. have a good weekend!

What is it with this cat food? Min eats the Iams $7 a bag junk.

It's not bad to be obsessed with what you eat and such ... don't let it come back.

All companies are run by stupid people.

I'm still working on the TT, but the elections are making me goofy.

    Tug said...

The gym...I totally agree. Happy TT!

What a cute idea for a list! I agree about the gym thing - deodorant is a NECESSITY, yet some people manage to forget it! How do they do that?

    Renee Nefe said...

cute list! I'm tempted to do a 13, but not enough to visit everyone. I've got too much to do for that.

    Scribbit said...

Wow! $20 a case, you must be awfully attached to that there cat. :) Just kidding, I'm sure he's worth any price.

    Geggie said...

My HOA is ridiculous too. We're currently dealing with painting the entire complex. Geez, where do they come up with these colors? I think the chair of the paint committee is actually colorblind.

Loved your point No. 13! You can join me in the mathematically challenged club and we can stalk Harry Connick Jr together!

I said it before, but I'll say it again: well done on that weight loss. You have more determination than I have...

    Anonymous said...

What a great list!!! I love it!

    Anonymous said...

haha! your list cracks me up. muscle tee's and spandex, also not a good look at the gym. and it's always the 45 and older guy trying to look buff. good work on the pounds! i'm down 8. dying for more. happy tt!

    Chaotic Mom said...

I LOVE this list! Why is it bad that those pounds are never coming back? I think that's GOOD. I wish I were so determined. I've been messing around with trying to loose weight for weeks now, and not doing very well. I need to get serious.

Ever hear of Veterinary Pet Insurance? Might help, might not. We use it.

Know anybody who does blog design? I'll trade that for work on a T-shirt quilt. ;)

    Tanya said...

Congratulations on the 11 pounds. What's your secret (please don't say healthy eating and regular gym visits - PLEASE say it's something much more fun!)??

    Happy Thursday.

    Jane said...

Vet care is expensive but what choice do you have when you love your pet???
Your list made me smile, especially #13!
    Thanks for visiting me today.

Cute theme. That was fun to read. I worry about us selling our house too. Your last one was funny. Have a blessed day!

    Darla said...

Ah, condo ownership--all benefits of both owning and renting. :)

And more congrats on the 11 pounds. I'm still giggling about what people wear to the gym.

    Zeus said...

Keep up the amazing work with the pounds, Carmen! You're doing fantastic! As for vet bills, well, you're not the only one who finds them horrific. I personally think if you're going to poke and prod all over me, the least you could do is make it for free so I don't feel like I paid to be violated.

    Happy Thursday to you!

    Unknown said...

Thats a great list...Congrats on losing weight! im jealous

    Norma said...

I've lost 11 lbs too. Come back and read my entry about clothes that don't fit but hang around.
No balance on your credit card? Wow, you're looking better and better as a candidate to be my daughter-in-law. HA.

Congrats on the weight loss! I need to get obsessed about what I eat. . .
    Great list!

    Happy TT!

The good: Webb won the senate race in Virginia

The bad: now the the Democrats have some power they'll be held accountable for the mess that Bush made in Iraq.

The ugly: We shouldn't be there in the first place.

Love the theme here! Mine are xrated today.

    Mama Duck said...

Oooo, great list and congrats on the weight loss!! The little guy is sick so no T13 today for us, but I'm enjoying reading yours and others ;).

    CJ said...

Vet bills suck! If we add two more to the thursday thirteen, you can fit them all in, but then it would be the thursday fifteen, so we would have to move it to Friday and call it the Friday Fifteen and that is just WAY to hard to do along with Thursday Thirteen. Besides, why fix what ain't broke?

    MaR said...

I so agree with your nr. 6, coming from the gym today!!
Clever list, nobody pays attention if there are 13 or 13,75 items :)
    happy thursday :)

I think you worked things out well... For choosing a non divisible number...

Cute idea....good for you on the 11 pounds! Woo Hoo! (Just don't celebrate with cheese cake!)

math... LOL!! at least the cat's not eating filet mignon! :)

I couldn't agree with you more!

The uglier: Damn those prime numbers! Damn them to hell!

    Great TT (as always), Carmen!

    Shannon said...

Congrats on the weight loss, Carmen!

And do people really still dress up like Jane Fonda to workout? Yikes!

    Have a happy Thursday!

Great list! :) So creative. :) Congratulations on the weight loss. :)

I hear you on things people wear to the gym. I'm a group fitness instructor and I've seen it all, including people that couldn't understand why they needed to wear shoes in step class?!? As for make-up at the gym - if I go straight to the gym from work, I still have my eye makeup on, and don't bother taking it off (I wash my face so I don't break out, but don't bother with the eye makeup). Plus, if I'm teaching, a bit of eyeliner helps me to look more professional. But there's no need for the full face of makeup I see some ladies wearing!

    Happy T13. :)

    Anonymous said...

Can you come watch my kids so I can even think about going to a gym LOL Just kidding. Congrats on that though. Hell I'm lucky if I get makeup on before going to work in the morning.
    happy TT :)

    Sarah said...

I have SO many pet peeves about things people wear to the gym. Especially girls in really, really little clothes. Because I feel embarrassed FOR them.

    Pink Chihuahua Princess said...

This is a very cute idea. I'm sorry to hear about your job, I hope that you are doing well. I'll make that assumption since you listed it under the good.

I hope you and Pooh are having a fun day!

Loved this idea Carmen. Monday I join the "regularly employed" with health insurance. I'm working for a big insurance company, so my benefits will be pretty sweet. (Compared to the no-benefit life I currently enjoy)

Loved 13, I have issues with divisibility as well. I also mentioned deodorant in my TT.

    Unknown said...

I always have fun reading your TTs!
    Congrats on the weight loss!
I know about companies and insurances, they want to charge you more in premium costs, but give you less coverage!Does this make sense?
    Have a great day Carmen!

what a great idea for a tt.

    11 pounds?!! what's your secret?

    Mia said...

I love the list. I too live in a condo, the association sure could use improvement.

    LMAO...I like #13.

    K said...

    I hate math too.

And you're right, some people do wear the scariest looking things to the gym.

    Anonymous said...

I Love this idea for a TT! thanks for the smile!

    angela said...

Leotards just make you sweat faster anyway...I can't imagine wearing one to work out. We're not doing ballet here:-)

    Natsthename said...

Your 13's are always the best and so original!

I dropped 40, but 3 came back. Dammit. And anyone who wears a leotard is living in the 80's!!!

    Anonymous said...

the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - hm, have you by any chance watched that movie recently? *lol*

    #2: how stupid....
    #3: *censorship of my swearing*
    #4: Good! #5: I think....
#6: That's some of the reasons why I don't go there!
#8: That's real bad as it means that you're stuck there! *horror thought*
    #9: Because they're retarded.
#11: It would be cheaper with a dog, then you could at least walk the dog so that you met some nice man in the park and fell in love and move in with him instead of your "not-able-to sell-apartment"....and then you could sell his home and go on a world tour!!!! And you live happily ever after.... *lol*

    Good luck :-)

Hahah your list is very Carmen! I love #13!

I hate dealing with assocations. They are usally so power hungry that the incorrect shade of blue can turn into a lawsuit.

    Anonymous said...

    I hear you.

Vet bills are always truly evil. But worth it, in the end.

    Anonymous said...

Hee-hee. Very cute nonetheless! Congrats on the weight loss...I think I found it.

    Blog said...

vet bills totally suck....And, specialty cat food (which, apparently, mine need...) is freaking expensive. But, the good, my cats are healthy and happy (mind you, they like the cheapy food better....)

    Anonymous said...

Oh an BTW, I love the title! Have you seen Strongbad's Teen Girl Squad? "The ugly one!"

    What an original TT!

    Anonymous said...

    Wow! I love this list!

By the way I would never wear makeup to the gym and I would use deodorant. Now I just need to get my butt to the gym!

    Carrie said...

hee hee - i hate math too. and makeup to the gym? never.

    Anonymous said...

LOVE your list, LOL! :) Insurance & any housing assoc. suck. Seriously so. Have a great day!

Good list! I don't know how you come up with new ideas every week for 35 weeks!

    Happy TT!

    Susan said...

Carmen as usual your list rocks. Esp. the gym thing. There is also no need, I have to add, for shorts that reveal a little too much when you are on the abductor/adductor thingies. Esp. at 5am. Mine's up - stop by if you get the chance in between figuring out your house stuff :)

    -R- said...

Someone at your gym wears a leotard????!!!!

    Anonymous said...

Even though 13 isn't divisible by 3, you made it work for you! Like they say, there's a good and bad side to everything!

    Anonymous said...

great list! my tt's up! ;)

Great list, think of it this way, buying a new house will be cheaper too.
