Thursday 13 v. 11

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thirteen Things Carmen wants in her future husband
  1. Breathing:. Seriously, the list could stop there, but I'll go on
  2. Between 30-40: My friend married someone 20 years older. I just can't bring myself to consider it. Too young, and they're too immature (but mold-able I suppose).
  3. Intelligent: I would get very impatient with someone who's elevator didn't go all the way to the top. I mean, he might be good for a few weeks, but then, I want a little conversation. Update: And makes me laugh. How could I forget that. That's a must!
  4. Christian: I was madly crushing on a Jewish boy in college. He wanted me to go to temple with him, I wanted him to go to church with me. It was hard, even then. I think a partner should agree with me on the basics.
  5. Attractive (to me): He doesn't have to be Matthew McConaughey (though Matthew, if you want to apply, feel free!!!), but there needs to be a spark.
  6. Has hair (where it's supposed to be): Yep. This is one of those superficial things. Sorry. Being honest. I have these fantasies about running my fingers through his hair (on his head.) Hairy ears, nose or back just gives me the willies.
  7. Good kisser: A kiss should make me go all mushy inside.
  8. Can support himself: I am not interested in being a sugar momma. This guy asked me out for coffee once, and wanted to go dutch. For coffee. Dude, if you can't buy me a cup o' joe, then just forget it.
  9. Taller than me: You'd think, at 5'2'', this wouldn't be a stumper. You'd be surprised.
  10. Having kids isn't the end-all-be-all: This one may be negotiable. But I've never been the mom type. Plus, men don't have to HAVE them. There's a pretty good shot that I physically CAN'T have them, either. I might adopt though.
  11. Good at Sex: And wants to have it. A lot. I've got to make up for the dry spell.
  12. College Educated: College was a big part of my life. I want him to share that with me.
  13. Madly, totally and completely in love with me, and I with him: Does that kind of love exist out of books, songs, and movies? I'm counting on it.

great idea! I'd have to add "Smells good" :-) My 13 are up.

*hehehe* I love this list. I agree with most of them especially #4, #8 and #9. Take-Care...

Wow! My guy meets MOST of your needs...but he's MINE. Oh, however, the hairy thing? Yeah, well, once your already in love with the guy and you see it, it doenst' seem to matter anymore...

Red said...

Several of my friends and I have found happiness with men three to five years younger than we are, so I would urge to explore that avenue...

And keep looking: that kind of love does exist!

Anonymous said...

And you're not married yet? Are you sure? *lol*

That doesn't seem much to match, no. Where the heck are they? They should be lining up!

You know #13 exists, since you've been to our blog....

Thanks for stopping by :-)

about the hair? most of the guys I know are getting a little thin on top. if you're looking for hair, you may have to move your age group down a little. and number 13? makes up for lack of hair. you'll find him...
ps. you'll have to send me mummy pictures.

Lisa said...

Oh yeah! #1 was funny! :) #8 - definitely.

Very reasonable list. Good luck! Thanks for stopping by my site. My book hasn't been bought by any libraries yet but you might be able to get a really cheap used copy off of Amazon.

email me and I'll tell you the story of how I got my agent.

Good list, Carmen! My hubby and I found out when we were engaged that neither of us wanted kids. It's very helpful to agree on this particular issue! :-)

Lazy Daisy said...

You go girl....he's out there. I think you've got the basics covered. ( The rest you can work on over a lifetime!) My TT is up. You're so cute I'm sure you don't lack for male attention!

My husband is 7 years younger then me, works out perfectly and isn't an issue at all.

Have a great Thursday!

Good luck finding THAT one! Just make sure he's ok with using the toilet brush and dish towels, too. ;) Thanks for visiting my T13 today!

Janet: "Smells good" is number 14. :)

D: Well, I don't want to steal your guy. ha. :)

Red: The age thing is definitely negotiable.

Lifecruiser: I really want what you have!

Karen: Sigh. I may have to bend on the hair issue. But not the "hairy" one. ha.

Angie: Patience is not one of my virtues. 34 years is a long time to wait!

All: thanks for the encouragment. No matter how much I want to give up, I keep believing he's out there.

Lazy Daisy: Male attention? What's that. ha. Thanks for the compliment, though.

I was at Michele Agnew's this morning looking for Untenzi's blog address cause someone told me his birthday was also May 17th and Michele had this question posted...what's the one thing you won't compromise in a partner. I was going to say honesty but said safety instead. But I think the song "it's in his kiss" is good wisdom. If he can't kiss good none of it works for me. This was a fun list. Do you spend a lot of time hemming pants like I do?

Anonymous said...

Good list! My tt are up.

Anonymous said...

What a great list :).
Having hair in the right places is not really superficial - not for me at least.
Oh yeah - a 'good kisser', I like to get mushy inside too and it sitll happens, even after 23 years of marriage *grin*. And the 'adult-time' - oh yeah *super-grin*.
God already has the right one for you. Now you just have to meet. Just noticed only 9 more days for your mega trip - cool.
I like your new design too.

I really hope you get to go to Maui and The big Island of Hawaii -- Totally cool there. Its a nice place to visit :)

MaR said...

Good luck, Carmen. There is one nice guy who meets your requirements and he is also looking, so keep your eyes and ears open!!

Carmen said...

Wystful: Hot, isn't he? :)

Colleen: Yep, it's in his kiss. :)

Eph: How do I get God to hurry up and make us meet already? ;)

Heather said...

I like your list - I hope you find him soon!

Robin said...

Good list!

Mind you before I met the love of my life I had 3 stipulations: no children, never married and under 30. My boyfriend is 38, 1 kid and was going through a 3 year long bitter divorce. I suppose I asked for it.

Norma said...

There's a few of these I don't know about (you can guess which ones) but my boy fits the bill (see my Monday Memory this week for height, hair, build, teeth). Also, he's not in love with you, and he didn't finish college. Sorry.

Strong Enough said...

GREAT list! Good luck in finding your mr Right. The guy in the TT image looks about right. ;)

Carmen said...

Robin: Yes, that's probably what'll happen to me. ha.

Norma: Well, I'm glad I don't want YOURS. :) I just want MINE :)

My list is up....drop in.

Sonya said...

Does this guy you speak of really exist? LOL! Egypt? How fun is that. My T13 is up toO!

Shannon said...

Carmen- yes, it does exist. I kept going down the list going "Bone, Bone, Bone, Bone, don't know but probably Bone, TMI-just friends with Bone"- you get the idea.

But yes, true, deep, mad-for-each-other love does exist. I'm one of the lucky ones, I soooo have it. Wishing it for you to.

Shalee said...

First of all I love the header... it is definitely an eye catcher!

I love everything you put, especially the sex one! but I would also add that you and he should have lots of things in common (besides sex) to talk about, laugh about and enjoy.

Heather Smith said...

You aren't gonna believe it, but I almost did this today on my site, just didn't have time! One of mine is must have decent teeth. Seriously! I think I'm gonna do this next week! Have a good one!

Trinity13 said...

I wanted someone with a great head of hair as well, but my hubby is completely bald. He shaves it every other day, but I now love it! It's so soft...heehee!

Melli said...

I am ROFL over this one! Good JOB! I do agree they should be breathing! AND able to foot the bill for a cup of coffee! (even at Starbucks!) LOL!

You must be getting verrrrrrrry excited about leaving for Egypt about now!

(i didn't play today.)

Geggie said...

I think it's really important to have a list of the things you want in a man. I did, and my bf of three years was about 90% of the things on my list. What I want to know is about the trip to Egypt!

Susan said...

Interesting list...it's good to know what you want and need. Thanks for stopping by my TT!!

angela said...

Yeah, they exist...and i don't think youa re being unrealistic in any way...just don't sell out for less...Dr. Phil says something like that "People seel themselves way too cheap". Don't do it!

I like the hair one too!My husband had beautiful super blond ,velvety soft hair like 15 yrs ago!We tease him now that the baby has more hair than he does...I love my husbands sense of humor!
Lists are good ! You'll find him one day!Happy Thursday!

Anonymous said...

I think you'll get your guy!! :o)

Carmen said...

Margaret: sometimes I think that my list SHOULD stop at breathing because I'm being too picky.

Reverberate: blog dress. I like it!

ames: a good one, we'll make that #15

Sonya: I hope he exists.

Dorothy: Poor Bone. I'm sure he appreciates the thought. :)

Shalee: Yes, lots more in common. Thus the intelligence, college, etc.

trinity: Yes, completely bald wouldn't be so bad.

melli & geggie: there will be lots of egypt posting when I return.

Angela: I agree, you should know what you want, and what are the "negotiables"

christine: All I need is hair up front, as time goes, so can the hair. ha.

Tracey said...

I hear you girl... Be Picky about this one.

You can easily change your haircolour back, or change your shoes, but Divorce is F-ing expensive, and he might get some of your good stuff! :-)

Sherri said...

Great list!! ...when I was single one night a friend and her husband made me make a similar list...they said to me 'what is it that you want in a man?' and then my friend proceeded to write them down and they prayed through all 11 items on my list and then one day I met the man!! ...so pray through your list:) ..my hubby is all 11 things on my list and more:) (The top three things on my list went something like this... 1.digs God, 2. adores me, 3.uses soap ...)

Thanks for visitng my site:)

Laci said...

If I were to do a TT like this, I think it would end up looking a lot like yours (right down to Matthew McConaughey!) :)

RE: finding a guy taller than you, try being 5'11" -- not an easy task! :)

Happy TT and thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

Anonymous said...

Caution, I don't think Matthew McConaughey's elevator goes all the way up so try not to get blinded by his pecs ;)

I once dated a Jewish man but when it came time to being converted I didn't like it either. But they sure make wonderfully loyal husbands!!

Good luck!:)

Unknown said...

Nice! I'd have to add had good breath, too. That's a big one in my book.

Carmen said...

yecart: amen to that!

sherri: I do pray about it, but I'll go through each item! Thanks for the advice.

laci: I'd like to be 5'11, but it would be hard to find a taller guy!

lauren: I post around 6:30 a.m. on Thursdays, and am amazed by the number of folks who are out by then!

erika: Hmm. I think Matthew is pretty smart, but in a wacky kind of way. But then, he could just fit into the boy toy category if not. ha!

Carmen said...

Suzy: We'll add that at number #16. I did leave off "non smoker" which is completely because of the breath. it's like kissing an ash tray!

Just Nancy said...

A pretty good list. I got all of those things, AND he makes me laugh. That was one thing you didn't have but it was a necessity for me! And he is 4 years younger, but mature and highly intelligent. He's the best. Sorry he's already taken.

Thanks for visiting my list!

Froggie Mama said...

LOVE the header! *drool*
Good choice! LOL
What a great list! I agree with most of them, too!!

Good luck with your search! :)

Kimmy said...

Great list idea! I agree with all 13. (I usually have: not a pedophile or criminal or alcoholic or drug addict in the top two :p)

Joan said...

Wow, your blog has been busy today. I enjoy your humorous style of writing.

Thanks for coming by for a visit.

PowersTwinB said...

That #13...yes, those kind of guys do still exist!...I have one of those 35+ marriages...same guy, same love,...actually love him much more now..but the hair issue...never gave that a thought till you had to go and mention t! lol.uck!

Red Queen said...

Carmen, Beware, I was asked to marry 4 different times when I was in Eqypt and they all loved me even though we had never spoken before. Eqyptian men are very passionate about everything- wait till see them fight-ha. Good list today- stick to it and you will be blessed.

-R- said...

I like this list, but I was surprised by how my list changed once I had met the right guy. =)

Carol said...

Okay. Good qualities all. Do NOT compromise on #4! Must be a godly, Bible-believing man willing to pastor his family. Non-negotiable.

Nice blog. Glad I found you!

Lisa said...

LOL, love the list. #1 is a pretty good one to have.

And dutch on Coffee? My god, were you guys planning to fly to Kona and pick your own??? That I could understand, but a cup of coffee???? Dude...a life, get one.

Bar L. said...

This is a great list, and I must say the best T13 banner I've ever seen! I think you need to stick with this list - I gave up a few things on my list and now regret it.

Carmen said...

Mom Nancy: You made me update my list. How could I leave off Funny?

All: the header you may use, but it's not 'technically' the right size. Everyone seems to like it. Ha.

Kimmy: Those are also very important! Though I will Google someone to make sure they don't have a public record.

auntiem: Isn't that the rub? I have no gaydar.

red queen: I'll come back from Egypt feeling beautiful and adored. Then have to deal with apathetic American men again.

carol: the christian thing is non-negotiable!

Alexia: I say keep an open mind, but if you don't know what you want, you'll end up with what you DON'T want. :)

Lisa: Yes, the man was a LOSER. Please. It's a cup of coffee. I didn't ask him to take me to Vegas or something

Anonymous said...

indeed! great minds think alike! :D

Great list, I can't imagine why you haven't found him yet! Its not as if your first prerequisite is a millionnaire.

thanks for visiting mine!

#13 does exist. After almost 17 years I still feel it. Corny, huh? I liked your list. Thanks for visiting my
T13.

Scone said...

Yes, absolutely that kind of love is possible. But remember what it said in Princess Bride. You have to wait a while sometimes. Mine's 5 years younger and my total soul mate, but I didn't catch him till I was 30+.

Anonymous said...

lol! Good luck finding your guy! :)

Tanya said...

When you find him, make sure he has a twin (or a clone) and send that one my way :)

astrocoz said...

I love the list...it reminds me of my "What I Refuse to Date" post.

Anonymous said...

I hope you find him! :)

ms blue said...

That's not too tall of an order. He's out there somewhere and eventually you will fall madly in love. I'm a true romantic and I've got to believe in the idea of a soul mate.

Hope you find him soon!

Carmen said...

Julie: You're right. I'm not asking for a rich man or a movie star! (though I wouldn't turn them down.)

Shrone: He doesn't have to worship them, but the cat was here first. :)

Tanya: I'll keep my friends in mind when I meet his twin/clone or even nice friends. :)

Melissa: I'll take your word on the bald men. :)

Something Blue: I've gotta believe, too!

All who already have the true love: Go to him right now and kiss him and tell him you love him!

Bone said...

I wonder if Dorothy would be my agent?

Renee Nefe said...

This is a great list! The hair thing.. totally agreeing with you on that!

Chris said...

lI'm with you on #9. I'm almost 5'11", so I REALLY had trouble finding someone taller than me. My husband was the first and only person I ever dated that was taller than me. That's probably why I married him! lol.

Anonymous said...

They're good things. I think that love exists. I'm crazy about my hubby and he about me, maybe not 24/7 but overall it's pretty good.

Carmen said...

Bone: Dorothy is your biggest fan. :)

Renee: I asked the 8 ball if I'd fall in love, and it said YES

Tey: Maybe we can figure out how to get Mr. Linky to work.

Tey and janice: Well, I visit a LOT of 13s, so they all come back to visit me.

Leanne said...

What the heck... got comments? My hand hurts from scrolling all the way down to get to the button. Sheesh. ;)

So, about the guy, are you looking? Maybe you'll find him while you're in Egypt? If you find a Cute American in Egypt by himself on vacation, he's got quite a few of your qualifications covered, eh?

The hair - you know the hair can be waxed. Waxing is also good for giving them a taste of the pain we go through to look good and have smooth (stuff) for them. :P

Anonymous said...

great list. i think we all want that out of a man. thanks for stopping by my t13!

Just telling it like it is said...
