Thursday 13 v. 66 Charleston Trip

Thirteen Reasons I am and am not happy to be going to Charleston, SC this weekend

    1. I've been covering for someone at work, starting work at 6 a.m. I now need a break.
    2. I've never been to Charleston, so I'm excited to see someplace new.
    3. Jim and I are going down to see if perhaps we'd like to relocate there, to escape the winters and get him some palm trees.
    4. It's a 6-hour drive. Not excited about that. However, I'll be taking the new Scion, breaking it in a bit.
    5. We haven't made any plans yet for sightseeing, though we are exploring neighborhoods with a realtor.
    6. I need tips for places to eat & things to do. If you have suggestions, let me know.
    7. Right now, the weather isn't looking terribly good. I hope the rain doesn't color my view of the city. And, I hope I don't get sick from walking around in it.
    8. Rainy weather doesn't make for good photos. :(
    9. I get to spend dedicated time with Jim. Yay!
    10. I'm sure there will be a Cracker Barrel along the way for dinner. :)
    11. We'll be staying on Daniel's Island, since we didn't want to shell out the big bucks for downtown accommodations.
    12. I hope I don't find a house I absolutely love NOW, and not be able to get it because we haven't moved yet.
    13. The good news is that when we get back, I can start the countdown to Vegas in December. :)

Have a great trip! Hope the positives end up outweighing the negatives. I can really sympathize about relocating someplace warm--that's why Carl (from Germany) and I (from Michigan) settled in San Antonio. ;-)

You'll love Charleston. I work for a tour company now here in Savannah and our Charleston day trips are absolutely fantastic.

You will miss the WaWa's down here, but you can order the coffee online or just grab a few when you do visit home in VA again.

The lack of a good deli down here will drive you nuts. They slice in slabs down here. Remember to ask for it sliced thin if you ever order anything.

Otherwise you'll enjoy it. And yes, Va is only six hrs. home. =O)

Sounds like fun - minus the long drive. I hope you have a great time!!

We went to Charleston for the first time this past July for vacation. If you're looking for a fantastic place to eat, you must try Wild Wing Cafe on 36 N. Market St. And if you do, make sure you get some of the Wild West flavor. That place was so incredibly yummy that we ate there three times in the one week we were there. We also went to a place on the water called RB's, which had a fantastic beef filet. If you take a look at my journal, you'll find some pictures of our vacation down there.
