Cell Phones In Flight?

I don't know if any of you have read the articles, but the European Union is going to start allowing cell phones on airplanes.

Supposedly, they are asking the airlines to come up with suggested guidelines on appropriate cell-phone usage.

When was the last time that you saw idiots act appropriately with anything?

So you know that if you're flying in Europe (and we should be so lucky) that you'll be sitting next to Mr. or Ms. Yakkity-Yak.

Why do we need to talk on our cell phone all the time? Folks, hate to break it to you, but you (me, too) are not that important. :)

The second thing I think is amusing about this plan, is that the airlines are going to be the ones you pay to use the cell phone service. They charge $5 for a crappy turkey sandwich. How much do you think they'd bilk you for the right to phone home from the sky?

I hope America doesn't follow suit. That would be a nightmare. I came back from a cell phone conference once (when I worked for a cell phone company), and the plane landed, and you'd never heard so many "ding ding ding"s as the entire plane turned their cells on at the same time. If they could've talked during the flight, that would've been the worst flight ever.

However, I would really like to have me some wireless Internet on an airplane. No one has to hear my IM conversations. :)

The problem there again would be price. I don't want to pay a ton of money to use the Internet. Al Gore wanted it to be free, you know. ;)

Would you want to fly on a cell-phone allowed flight?

Have a good weekend, all! Next week is VEGAS!

I think it is a BAD idea!!! (doesn't hurt that I can't stand cell phones and think they are the devil's spawn.) But every time I fly as soon as the wheels touch down all the cell phones are flipped on and everyone is calling someone to let them know we've landed. Why do they bother??? If you're at your final destination, you still have to wait an hour for your luggage...why now call from there?

NO NO NO NO NO!!! It's bad enough to hear couples arguing (bad experience on the way to AZ), I don't need to hear people talking on the phone too! I enjoy being able to fly in mostly peace. Ugh, that would be a horrific idea!

Yea I don't think they should allow it, or at least provide a box to put over that persons head if they are talking on the phone ;)

There was a lady in the waiting room this morning, I'm gonna say she was in her late forties to early fifties. Her phone rings and it's "Faithfully" by Journey. I'm foreeeever yoooours... faithfully. For some reason, it cracked me up.

Good to see you back and blogging again!

I guess it's like cell phones in restaurants and stuff. A lot of people get pissed off about it, but... they're talking to the person they are with. So, if you're alone, why shouldn't you have someone to talk to?
