Beyond Idiotic

So I was watching a car commercial last night for the new Edge (it's got a cool tune with it - I like to live on the edge, I like the view from above). ANYWAY, the commercial shows a car driving on the "edge" of buildings. Then, in small print at the bottom, this shows up. "Yes, this is a fantasy. Cars can't drive on buildings." DUH! Have we gotten so retarded that the car company needs to put legal copy on its ad that explains that the laws of gravity have not changed? So sad.

And please go vote for Pooh one last time today. Poor guy. I had to test out his kitty valium for the move last night, and and it made him all drunk. He didn't know what hit him. I think I'll leave him alone on Friday unless he really starts howling or something.

It's amazing that we are such a litigious society that we have to endure those ridiculous disclaimers on EVERYTHING.

Crap...My Agent was going to try to drive her VW Beetle on the edge of her office building today. Now that she knows it's just a fantasy, what other stupid things will she spend her time doing?

Valium? Pass some this way, Pooh!

I just had a great comment typed up and when I hit send it gave me an error. Sometimes the errors lie. So I'm going away and see if my OTHER comment shows up after you do your moderation thing... if it doesn't... then I'll come do my BEST to recreate it! *criming!*

It's not that we've gotten retarded... it's more that we've gotten sue-happy.

All of those seemingly stupid disclaimers you see are driven by legal cases, or at least legal paranoia.

That way, if someone does something stupid, like use their toaster in the bathtub, and their family sues, the toaster maker can say, "We put a strict warning on it - 'Not to be used in bathtub'." Retarded to you, maybe, but a multi-million dollar money saver to the corporation.

This is a Torti http://littlecatzee.blogspot.com/2007/02/out.html

It's short for Tortise Shell which is what they call her coloring. I guess since I've had two people ask, I should modify the post with what a Torti is.

I hadn't noticed the disclaimer on those commercials...I don't pay much attention. But yeah, these commercials are getting really weird. I thought that we paid extra for cable TV so we wouldn't have to watch commercials. What happened to that?

Oh, I hope that Pooh doesn't need the valium for your trip. Poor guy. How long is your trip? Maybe you can ask the vet about a smaller dose.

My first thought was "only in America" but I am not sure about that ...
Get well wishes to Pooh! and off to vote :)

What's this I hear about T13 folding? What has happened? They don't mention anything of the sort at the website...

And in relation to your post: yes, we clearly have become THAT retarded. I bought some cashew nuts the other day and there was a massive allergy warning on the back of the packet: Contains nuts.
I'm telling you...

Poooooor Pooh. Do you consider the fact that maybe he was ENJOYING his high from his little valium? It may be that he was fascinated by... the lights. What if you will be depriving him of his ONLY other chance to experience that again in his life? ... or are you just saving his valium for yourself? LOL! He may sue you....

And speaking of which.... do you really NEED to ASK if we really NEED to post such warnings? When people will go out of their way to look for (or even create) reasons to sue the other guy ... I'm surprised we don't actually see MORE warnings of this nature! Common Sense is a LOST tradition in the USA! Common Sense is now spelled S.U.C.K.E.R.!!! While those with "street smarts" get rich off of folks who FORGET to apply ridiculous warnings!

LOL that actually reminds me of this ad they had here for Hyundai. IT was of a baby taking the keys, driving the car, picking up another baby hitch hiking and going to the beach to surf. I thought it was gorgeous and fantastic. 80 people thought it would provoke their children to do it, so it was pulled from the air. Unfortunately there are retards out there!!!

Poor Pooh. Ill come back tonight and vote, i have to go to work just now! Give him cuddles for me!

Oh.....I agree with you. USA is loaded with dummies. But it's a 'get rich quick' scheme for smart lawyers and insipid consumers!

Poor kitty...what pooh needs is a wagon made of one of your cardboard boxes!! You just may give him a thrill of a lifetime---what with being 'high'---he'll think he's on a roller coaster ride and just may never want to get off!!!

I saw that commercial but didn't really pay attention to the fine print. LOL!
