Owwwww.

I must be the only person in the world who does not find a massage to be relaxing. Whenever I get a massage, it always hurts. Is it supposed to do that? Geesh. Here I thought that it was supposed to release tension and make your muscles feel BETTER.

I got a massage yesterday thinking, hey, I've got a vaca coming up, I don't want to spend $150 to get a massage in Hawaii, so I'll get one here. There's a new place that just opened, they're running a special 30% off their massages. So ok, I'll go there. It was not fun. Not fun at all. I am SO SORE this morning I feel like I just did a mega workout at the gym. I kept telling the guy it was too much pressure, but it still hurt. I nearly jumped off the table a few times. He kept saying he was sorry, but then kept on with the torture.

I've not had much luck with the massage thing. I got one when I was in Vegas last fall, and paid way to much for it, and it was way too LIGHT to do anything. Then, you should get my friend Irish to tell you about the massage experience in Egypt - she tells it better, but basically, I believe that Irish is now legally married to the masseuse. Lie on your back, pull your knees into your chest, and then have someone sit on your knees to stretch your back. While you have no clothes on.

owie! No a massage is not supposed to leave you feeling like a train wreck. And you know from your expensive Vegas massage that it can be done lighter (too light). A good massuer will test first to see how much pressure you like.
I've had them too hard (at the chair massage in the mall) and it isn't relaxing.
Unfortunately, it's hit or miss what kind of massage you get...until you find one that you like...then marry it. hee hee

re: more snow...it's coming this Thursday.

I've never had a massage! They sound scary now thought!

Wow. Did they give you a copy of the Kama Sutra before your massage?

Psssst...what was that masseuse's name? I just may want to schedule something with him!

Wow, something is definitely wrong! Are you getting the "Sports" massage aka Deep Tissue? Those do leave you sore, but Swedish massages should be relaxing and you shouldn't feel sore the next day! That's horrible. I would be very clear before they start that you don't want to feel sore the next day. I have a phobia about masseuses touching my face with their gross, oil-covered slippery fingers. I always say at the beginning I don't want my face massaged.

Well, I love massages....but in a whole different atmosphere. Hubby give the most relaxing massages of all time.

From toe tips to neck...wow, I fall asleep it's so good.
(Well, that doesn't sound like it's too exciting now, does it? rofl) But ohhhhh, wish you luck in finding some place that will put your whole body at ease. 'Cause if you do, you won't regret it.

Don't let a 'bad place' put you down and out. There's a special one out there somewhere that has your name on it.

Oh, and the two hyphens?---Blogger wouldn't accept just the one hyphen..."already taken" it said. But doing a search, I couldn't find anyone that had a blog with hootin anni....what gives, ya wonder?

Glad you found me. And thanks for commenting...it reminded me to put you up with my moonshinin' friends list! LOL

Mmm. Personally I would RATHER have a too hard massage than a two soft one... my first deep tissue massage wasn't really painful when I got it -- but the next day - and for the next 3 days, I sure knew I'd HAD it! But this IS the problem with massage ... everyone likes it different, and different bodies can handle different amounts of pressure. It is VERY important to find the right masseuse for YOU. And then stick with that person like super glue! When you find the right one, they are like a little piece of Heaven ... right there in very own neighborhood. (wait to you get to Richmond!) LOL!

As a cat, I LOVE a good massage and am ALWAYS fully nekkid for the whole thing. The Egyptian massage sounds kinky, though. Your friend IS probably married to the masseuse-guy.

Carmen ... I say "shine the massages" and just enjoy your trip in Hawaii. When you feel that you need a massage, toss the money into an account for another trip to Hawaii.

I love love love massages! I like deep massages so probably would have liked the one you just gone.

Between Gord and I, we have $1250 in massage benefits each so usually have a massage a month.

I just got back from Vegas. There is a Brookstone store in the Venetian (where I stayed) and they have massage chairs for sale there, but mostly, they're for people to sit in, because no one intheir right mind would spend $4000 on a chair, no matter what it did.
I have trouble relaxing to begin with, and to be seated in a chair that was beating on me did little to relax me.

Mostly, I was glad I didn't spend the $4000! Although, I still have to check if the chair and I are married.

Oh, I love getting massages, and I really need one right now! I keep meaning to make an appointment. However, it's differant for me. I consider a good massage, the kind that leaves me in a little pain. The best massage I ever had, my muscles were sore for about the next 2 days. A couple months ago I wasted almost $50.00 on a massage that I could barely feel... I was so disappointed.

I don't think I'll be getting a massage over in Egypt anytime soon. Sounds like a little much to me.

I love a massage. Its soooo good for tight muscles. Maybe he was to hard on you. You will find a happy medium and then WAM all your money will go on massage!!

Hope you feel better though! Nothing worse then waking up feeling all sore!

you're not the only one. i think part of my problem is i'm not comfortable with relative strangers touching me, so i never really relax enough to enjoy it. and because i'm not relaxing, i'm fighting it and it causes me pain generally. there's been one exception. when i tore my rotator cuff one of the physical therapists did massage work on that side of the neck and shoulder and it was fairly nice. but she'd only work in the clinic so i couldn't go back there.

It should be Oooooh, not Owwwww!

Seriously, a good massage therapist (i.e., one who listens to you and acts accordingly) should be able to give you a Swedish massage with the right pressure for you.

Never hesitate to ask for what you want. It's YOUR time when you're on the table.
