Pooh's Christmas Thoughts

What's up, my blog peeps? Have you guys ever noticed that about once every 11 months or so this big green thing pops up in the middle of the living room? The Woman calls it a Christmas tree, I call it a new toy.

The first time I ever saw one of these big green things in the living room was when I was a kitten - barely a year old. I thought it looked like a good place for a nap, so I climbed up in it and went to sleep. It smelled so good! It was a "real tree" - that's what The Woman said. But when she found me sleeping in the tree, well, she laughed at me. I HATE it when she does that. Why is she laughing at me for taking a nap?

The next year when the thing showed up again, I tried to climb up again for another nap. That time, though, I was too big, and it was too unstable for me. I learned my lesson. Now I just like to sleep UNDER the tree, and play with any low-hanging - what's she call 'em? - ornaments that look too tempting to ignore. But the green things don't smell nice anymore. I tried to ask The Woman why the lovely smell had gone away, but whenever I do she goes on a rampage. Something about Fairfax County and idiots and passing laws about "real trees" not being allowed in apartments, and fire risks, and taking some stick out of their butts and catching real criminals and it makes me dizzy and her mad, so I don't ask anymore. She broke the law a few years ago, thumbed her nose at authority, but it seemed it was too hard to dispose of the dead green thing after Christmas (it being illegal and all) so she gave up and ordered a fake green thing that she has to assemble every year. It's still pretty, I think, even without the lovely smell.

This year she did something new - she decorated the fireplace and windowsills with lights. I like to sit in the windowsill, and didn't think I should stop just because there were lights there. So the other day when it was real windy and I wanted to watch the trees blow, I jumped up on the windowsill to get a good look. But everytime I tried to lie down, something would poke at my back end. I kept popping my butt up and down, not knowing why I was so uncomfortable. Then she did it. The Woman LAUGHED at me again, said she liked my "little dance" and moved the light out of the way so I could sit down. *humph.

There are also these boxes under the green thing with pretty paper wrapped around them. I usually prefer my boxes open with me inside them, but these are still fun. I've claimed them all! Well, I guess it's time for me to go back to sleeping under the green thing. Remember the reason for the season, and Peace out!

You're a much better cat than I, Pooh. I remember seeing the tree thingamajig when I was three, and I had no problem whatsoever tearing it down, jumping upon it, and swatting off every last ornament I could get my paws on. Since then, my human pet has a deep fear of buying a new tree, and I can safely say that is all thanks to me.

I don't know that I can let her see this post because now she'll know it's possible for me to live in harmony with the blasted tree.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, Pooh! You look just so beautiful by the green thing! And the boxes you've claimed are all new toys in a few days now...just you wait and see! They'll be opened for just that purpose, for you to climb in and jump around and possibly one will be saved specially for you---so you can nap in IT under the big green thing!!!

Happy HOLLYDAZE pretty kitty.

We kitties here at Wystful's house like to play with the big round things too---in fact, ol' Wystfully One bought a tube of them at the dollar store, just for us to play with....they're unbreakable and she left 'em on the floor by the big green thing where she has this soft cushy stuff she calls fake snow...We like fake snow!!! PURRZ 'n' hugs...=^..^= from your fellow comrades, Winston and the "Ho"....Tahoe for short!=^..^=

Hey Pooh! Great post. Back when we had kitties the one loved to nap under our big green thing. He seemed to think the tree was there just for him to nap under. He made for a very beautiful present.

Now Lilly seems to knock ornaments off with her tail...but not to play with. Just because she's near it.

Why isn't Lilly in the family picture?...ummmm did you see the pictures below? I did send out the first one of DH, DD, Me & Lilly-blurr. DD wasn't happy because she is yelling "NO!" in the picture.

Yeah, my agent has NEVER gotten a tree since she brought me home. Based on my behavior with other objects in the home, she says she should know better than to leave me to destroy a tree and its ornaments.

It's always great to hear from you, Pooh! I forget how hot you are!

Alas we have not one but two fake trees. I think I'd love to climb a real one. Still the cat toys they dangle can be fun and the tree makes a great place to wait while you are planning to pounce on someone...

Oh Pooh, you're just so darn cute I can't stand it! So photogenic, too. Perhaps you should talk to the woman about modeling. You made me laugh - WITH you - about the "real" Christmas tree and Fairfax County!

Alas, we have never seen what you have described. We have heard our folks talking about how they can never have a tree (or even nice stuff) because we'd destroy it. "Destroy" is such a strong word, don't you think?

We will have to live vicariously through you.

Hey Pooh! Whatever you do, don't climb up the middle. I did that once and the whole green thing fell over. Scared the living daylights out of me!

As Twiggy is so fond of saying on America's Next Top Model: Pooh Bear, you're so photogenic! You are quite the feline star. Have fun with that tree, but mind the Murano glass bauble!!!

Hey Pooh, glad you are staying under the tree now. We don't want any cat vs. tree accidents.

Merlin just sleeps under our tree. All the time. He hasn't tried to climb it, to my knowledge. But he's like a little gift, curled up under there.

What a sweetie! I decided to avoid the tree because I have two cats who already like to destroy everything in my house. I'm sure a tree would last about fifteen minutes. At the most.
