The Squirrel Olympics

I had the squirrel olympics going on outside of my window yesterday. Who knew these rats with fluffy tails could be so agile? Three floors up off of the ground, they are leaping fom tree to tree, cacthing on with only their front feet and pulling themselves up. Taunting my Pooh Bear, who is sitting in the window just daring them to jump on the balcony so he can chirp at them.

My favorite squirrel story is when I was sitting on the Lawn at UVA drawing the Rotunda (I was an architecture major for a year). I heard this noise, and I looked over to see a squirrel standing next to me - about an arm's length away. He looked at me, and then the Rotunda, then back at me. He stayed there for the longest time. Which was interesting, because UVA squirrels are a bit mean, and drop nuts on the students as they go to class.

The worst story is when I accidentally hit one with the car (little sucker ran right under my tire) and I cried for 3 days.

Cats and squirrels, eh? Or cats and pigeons, for that matter. Hours of fun, guaranteed.

I'm quite fond of squirrels, I must say. And I bet if they drop nuts on the students, it's not because they're mean but because they... er... enjoy the odd chuckle at the students' expense? You're right.. they must be mean little bastards! Have a great weekend!

Ohhhh gosh! I LOVE squirrels! We keep several squirrel feeders outside and I'm always putting out nuts and apples for them -- corn too, of course! They are such a trip to watch! (NOT fun to have in the house though!)

Carmen... I didn't put together this adventure today. If I HAD, you would SURELY have been invited! But Daisy sorta put an "all call" on her blog yesterday -- I'm sure she wouldn't mind A BIT if you showed up!!! I'm leaving in about 10 minutes... so I won't know if you tell me you're coming... I'll just be pleasantly surprised if I see you! (by the sears in Apple Blossom Mall!) ;)

Apparently The Squirrel Olympics happen in more than one country and city at a time because they're happening down here in Houston as well. Every time my human pet goes out to the deck, the squirrels living in the giant oak next to the deck pelt her with acorns while she tries to smoke. You'd think she realize that that might be a sign to quit, or that Isis and I are laughing at her, but no.

hehehe Zeus, your human should take the hint and stop smoking! Boy, those anti-smoking advocates are really doing some fantastic recruiting!

Yesterday I saw a little squirrel who was digging in the ground. When I walked over he ran away but not very far. I couldn't figure out what he had buried but it looked to be very important to the little squirrel!

For an instant, I thought you were a sensitive and gentle creature when you wrote about crying after hitting the squirrel with your car.

Then I realized you were probably just upset over the blood and guts on your white-walls.

A woman after my own heart. Damn squirrels! ::wink::

Often, when I hear (or read) someone mention squirrels, I remember the hilarious movie "Rat Race", and the sign "You should've bought a squirrel!"

once when we were camping when I was young, my dad was sitting in a camp chair with a straw hat on his lap. A squirrel ran right up his leg, onto his lap and had a good look see, trying to see if his hat was something worth eating or not.

There are no squirrels in Phoenix. Because squirrels are not interested in living in cactus. I miss watching the cute lil' rodents.

Another attorney in my suite has been having some squirrel problems. Evidently it got under the hood of his car and stayed there for several days and chewed through some tubing. Yea, my friend was happy.

As far as where I'm meeting these men, I'm not really sure. I've gotten involved in some new activities since I've been single. I am also just much happier not being tied down to people I didn't love, let alone like. So, I think I'm more approachable than I used to be. But, with that said everytime I have a case I meet at least one new attorney.

I wonder if the squirrels actually aim for certain people on campus!

My brother & SIL have some real issues with squirrels. See their next door neighbors love the squirrels and feed them leftover bread & rolls.
The squirrels "bury" the bread all over including my brother's yard. My brother & SIL call the squirrels "The Easter Squirrels" because they hide their bread all over and it's like an easter egg hunt to find it.
Once a day or so after visiting my brother I was walking back to my car that I had parked at a different angle and noticed a roll stuck up inside the front tire well. I called up Bro and asked if it was him or the Easter Squirrel? He said it was the Squirrel! I bet that squirrel isn't happy that I left with his roll!

I've got the best squirrel story ever... actually it's more like a kid story, but whatever...

My wife and I were at the park with the kids and they were playing on the swings and running around. All of a sudden these squirrels go flying up a tree -- one chasing the other. and both of them back down again and there's a bit of a tussle on the ground. my son said they were fighting squirrels. then they went back up the tree and onto a branch. and then right in front of everybody they started, you know, going at it. in the sense of procreation. yeah. and my son said "they sure are fighting"

It was all we could do not to burst into laughter! Ever since "they sure are fighting" has been code word for sex. :)
