Bah Humbug

2 Things have gone up this past week

#1 = Gas prices. Is anyone really surprised at this? They "myteriously" went down before elections, and then OPEC said they were decreasing production and then we said there was plenty of inventory. Election done. Republicans got their butts handed to them on a silver platter, and now all of a sudden I'm paying 5 cents more per gallon? How long is it going to take for us to get our own butts handed to OPEC before we make a big enough stink?

#2 = Christmas decorations at the shopping centers. This should not be allowed until AFTER Thanksgiving. You want to put out Christmas items to purchase before then, great. You want to put a tacky poinsettia street light decoration up in the middle of November, please refrain. Or just be all redneck and leave them up all year. The 7-11 near my house has a "wreath" made to look like 7-11 but instead it looks like "HI" and it's just sad.

Sigh, it's a Monday. I think my mood is directly affected by the cold, dark rain outside.

I'd heard about gas prices in the US being strangely reduced before the elections. And I must admit, I'm not surprised to see that they have gone back up. But so soon after the election? That's proper cheeky, innit?

There were stores that actually had Christmas decorations up before Halloween.

Before Halloween!

Commerce. The real meaning of Christmas.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...

Ugh. I wish gas prices would just stay low.

I hate cheesy xmas decorations. Make them stop!

AAAAAAAMEN Sister! I almost died when I walked in my front door this weekend (after being in NY) to find that Amanda had decorated my KITCHEN for Christmas! And she was soooooo PROUD of herself! She had gone out and bought all this snowman stuff - towels, floor mats, a new red cloth tablecloth, snowman center piece, candles, soap dispenser -- you name it! And it's VERY pretty! But... it's not THANKSGIVING yet!!! I had just said to Krysti the whole way home in the car - everytime we saw someone's Christmas lights or deco's up, I was like ARE THEY CRAZY???? OY! LOL! I am with ya 100%! (and I don't even like that the put stuff in the stores to buy! I pretty much stay AWAY from Walmart and Kmart during the months of October/November... it just ticks me off!)

Target had christmas lights and outdoor decorations stocked in September. They put out the halloween stuff and xmas stuff at the same time, I guess. Blah. Christmas stuff should not go up in stores until after my berfday!

Omg I so hear you, I was in the store on saturday, and the place was blaring Christmas carols. Our thanksgiving was Oct 9. Usually they start the xmas stuff after halloween, but not this year. Its all so sad.

What's worse is that one of my FAVORITE radio stations is ALREADY playing CHRISTMAS music 24/7....ummm hello? It's only NOVEMBER!!!!

I hear ya. For some reason, TBS decided to show "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" this past weekend.

Geez.

They changed Daylight Savings Time so that now it's March 11 until November, so I suppose it's a matter of time before we see July 4th Christmas sales.

The Macy's in Oklahoma City has been vomiting Christmas since before Halloween.

Thanksgiving kind of gets lost in the shuffle in the retail world. I refuse to put up decorations until after Thanksgiving.

There are Xmas decorations already over here in Spain, but there is no Thanksgiving... We'll soon see the Easter bunny before Santa visits us!

I'm in a mood as well. I'm hoping going to see Borat helps immensely.

I was handed decorations at work yesterday. I asked if we were skipping Thanksgiving. I work in the Appliance Dept at Home Depot - isn't that the perfect place for food decorations?

I wish the stores wouldn't even bother. I own a calendar.

I don't know about the gas prices... when we were in VA the prices were close to 60 cents less than here in Denver.
I didn't check the prices today...but I think it's still the same as last week here. I guess we'll go back up 50 cents or more soon though as the holidays are coming.

And I bought a Christmas ornament today...it was a bunny.

your 100% right on the gas thing. Less traveling with the kids in school. The price will slide up a smidege more around Turkey day, especially since the oil prices are also tied to alot of peoples heating.

I refuse to recognize Christmas until after Ohio St-Michigan, so I have no idea what your talking about :)

As for xmas decorations in shopping centres, I say at the beginning of december is an okay time!

Oh ha, the idea of the 7-11 "HI" wreath is cracking me up!! One of our shopping plazas had wreaths up BEFORE Halloween. Now, that is definitely breaking the rules.
