Blogwarming!

(Saturday photo hunt photo posted below)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I'm having a blogwarming party all weekend long. I hope you'll join me for the fun and merriment. If you'd like to post the invite on your blog, the more the merrier! (Thanks Reverberate, for the blinkie!)

First, there's an open bar (suggested by Kukka-Marie) so help yourself, but be careful if you drink and blog! I'm also leaving out some snacks, in case you get the munchies. (Kathy and Katherine have offered to bring dishes)

Anthony has suggested that we might do a comment roundhouse a-la Wendy's casting call (though we can never live up to that!)

Lazy Daisy and Karen have suggested that commenters leave blogwarming gifts. (Karen says "we could all drop by and leave a gift- like a button or blinkie" and Lazy Daisy suggests "a green plant to give you more oxygen in your idiot free zone, peace of mind, cartoons...etc. or even food brought to the party") WHO DOESN'T LIKE GIFTS?

Here's how the blogwarming comments will work. From now until Sunday night, leave a comment here with your gifts, dishes, etc. The first person will go visit Goofy Girl after leaving a comment and tell her what a fantastic designer she is! The next person will go visit the person above, ad so on and so forth. Comment all you want! If you show your love to Goofy Girl in addition to attending my party, that would be EXTRA generous of you.

I'm sure I will love all your gifts and dishes, but whomever gives me my mostest favoritist gift will win a whole post where I pimp your blog and tell everyone how great you are!

Open bar: We have beer, wine, vodka, tequilla, rum, and all the mixin's
Munchies: Spinach and artichoke dip with tortilla chips, mini quiches, lemon squares, rice krispie treats and catnip for the felines, imported from Purrrsia. ;)
Present Table: (where I put things other people are hosting on their blog. The rest of the gifts are in comments. I love them all!) Visit these folks to see my presents!
Buttons from:
Chi
Melli
Mysterious Lady
Karen
An "I heart Ducky" t-shirt from Dorothy
A sculpture of Kukka-Marie from the empress herself.
A very nice blessing from Wystful!

I can't keep up! Will you forgive me?

Hmmmmmm, a blogwarming gift!---*What to bring*?

I'm thinking. What kinda dish. A man? A single man? One that Carmen would appreciate? Ya, he'd be a dish alright!!! Suave, handsome to a point Carmen would swoon!! Debonaire! Rich! Loves to travel!! Have possession of land/investments/properties ALL OVER THE WORLD!! And above all - a man that would treat Carmen like his royal queen!! Lavish her with gifts, cars, servants, and jewels!! Giving her open reign to be Carmen!! What a dish.

Enjoy!!

(love your new design -- it's gorgeous, and PURPLE!! Hmmmmm, a color of royalty ya know. That sounds familiar!!)

I'm here! Wearing a pirate patch, so a rum and coke would be nice please! Myers if you have it, diet coke w/lime.

Don't you like the lovely tray of lasagna I've brought? It's mushroom! But not the magic kind, alas.

Nice place you've got here!

I think I'll mosey over and pay my compliments to your designer now :-)

Carmen said...

Welcome to the par-tay guys!

Wystful, you know the way to my heart.

Janet, here is your rum and coke. I'll run and get my pirate patch! And the lasagne - yum.

I bought you some very expensive bone china in your favorite pattern, and a huge basket of gourmet food. I hope you love them. :) Happy blogwarming!!

Yo, Carmencita, where's the bar, girl?

I brought cakes for everybody, all the way from Italy. And I've got Cat with me too. Can he play with Pooh Bear while we boogie the weekend away? Pretty please...

Carmen said...

Red, the bar's open, selections at the bottom of the post. And yep, Cat and Pooh can fight (i mean play) all weekend. Oooh, I love cakes. They're so pretty!

Scrappy: Bone china! I don't have any china, because as of yet, I have't gotten to have a wedding registry. Though I could probably have a full set if I count what I bought for everyonen else. ;)

Zeus said...

I definitely will be back later this evening to get down and party! However, I'm also stopping by quickly this morning to let you know you've been tagged, Miss Carmen. ;)

I have brought pigs in the blanket - with little nathans hot dogs, one of the finest hot dogs around!!

Carmen said...

Goofy Girl: oooh, a dirty banana. I think I'll try one too. (hicup) uh oh, I may be a little tipsy already! (as I chomp on a Nathan's dog)

Zeus: I expect to see you do your Elvis dance when you return. :)

Now, I'm off to chat with your interior decorater! She really did a SMASHING job!

Carmen said...

Melli: I'm glad virtual calories aren't as bad as real calories, or I'd be sunk. ;) Oooh, and bubbly (hiccup). I should probably stop drinking now.

Ok, all these rules and steps confoose lil ol me! Love the new look and of course, we will be looking for an idiot free zone in Vegas (like THAT'S gonna happen!)

ps - you can have some of my china. I just "inherited" place settings for 12 as a result of going over to my grandpa's house.

Carmen said...

irish, Vegas might be idiot free, but not freak free. ;)

i'm bringing black and white cookies--really just little fluffy white cakes with vanilla and chocolate frosting--from a little bakery called caputos here in brooklyn. so yummy I could easily be a million pounds if I let myself indulge all the time. love the new look and the blogwarming idea is so cute.

Mama Duck said...

Oooo, thanks for the invite!! I'm still sick so I'm not bringing any food that might have my germs (you don't want it, eh?), but I love your new design. A gift, hmmmm. How about a custom blinkie?? Here's some I've made before, just let me know what you want!

Oh, and I'm taking a little quiche and a lemon square. Morning munchies. Be back for the dip around lunchtime.

Kukka-Maria said...

I...am...so...drunk! Open bar was a great idea, Carmen!

I would like to give you a blogwarming gift. It's a sculpture of moi. It was commissioned by the Sultan of Brunei in late 2000, at the height of my "promiscuous" days--hence the nudity (sans fur) and the provocative pose. After the Sultan and I broke up, this statue was a point of contention and we spent the next two years in an ugly international battle over who got to keep it.

Now that I'm giving it to you, you can take his sad and drunken phone calls!

Plus, I figure, anyone who throws a blogwarming party with an open bar is someone who would appreciate a bald pus...I'm sorry, WHAT?! What do you mean I'm not allowed to say that?

Great, now I'm grounded. Happy Blogwarming, Miss Carmen! I hope you don't mind if I grab another Bloody Kukka before I take off!

Cheers!

Anonymous said...

Carmen! sorry I'm late... but since I've been on such a mayo kick, I've brought some artichoke dip to share. I'm thinking a nice charddonay, if you have one?

Oh lawsy don't think I don't like it I do! Hmmmmmmm give me a minute all go put you up on my blog!

{{hugs}}}

Shannon said...

You visited before I got the snacks out, Carmen. Come back!

Carmen said...

Melli, you may have as many margaritas as you want.

Kukka, thank you for my sculpture. I'll put it by the egyptian cat sculpture in my living room.

Karen, you may have a chardonnay and all the wine you want today!

Mamma Duck, feel better! Nothing like a little alcohol to kill germs ;)

Dorothy, I love my tshirt!

Mysterious, I see my blog more than you do ;) so the orange was gettin' on my nerves. ha.

Amy said...

Oh my, look at all the people here! Janet and goofy girl...nice to see you and Carmen, you look WONDERFUL! What diet? You are smashing. Oh what did I bring? Well, I made snickerdoodles, chocolate chip, chocolate chip/butterscotch, scotcheroos and oh yes, a bottle of tequilla...Janet, I hear you are on the wild side, tequilla shots anyone??????

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the Partayyyyy invitation. Just what we needed right now. I think we'll skip problems and sleep for the rest of our lifes... *lol*

We'll just bringing you the essentials first:

1) A box with Dom Perignon's. I must bring a whole box, one bottle would be emptied by ME.

(OK, it was Mr L that had to carry that heavy box, so he now got lower back pain and will not be able to carry any suitcases, so I blame it on you that we have to cancel our travelling for a while ;-)

2) Lots of different olives. It's a must when I'm around. I could be dangerous without them.

3) Gambas al Ajillo (garlic fried shrimps) a la Spanish style, still cooking - and I'm drooling... (but not over the plate, promise!)

4) Sangria made by an authentic spanish recipe we forced out of the owner of our fav place in Spain.

5) Saganaki, delicious fried Greek cheese. We couldn't get the best recipe of that, because she refused to tell us her secret.

6) Fried fresh Manioka from Paraguay (similar to pommes stripes but much bigger) and Canja (their local alcohol mixed with Coca Cola) to go with that.

7) As dessert Greek yoghurt with honey - and Raki to go with it.

8) Entertainment: Mr L playing the piano. I'm playing the hungry monster.

Oh, did I mention that we always start the dance where ever we goes...?

And now we have to go and hunt for some frog princes for you too.

Forgive us, but we're gonna spend time to find you some butts and not buttons!

Don't send the FBI if we are missing for long, it's hard work to find them these days ;-)

Warning: You may not recognize us, we're wearing our wedding clothes, the ones from the 18th century with belonging wigs.

(And no, it's NOT allowed to throw cake in our wigs!)

Hi - great Blogwarming.
Sorry I'm late, but I got hung up at the Hamburger Hamlet. I couldn't get the waiter to stop looking at my hands. I had to put the car into ludicrous speed to get here.

I brought you a gift. Your very own Vespa.

Now, lead me to the Southern Comfort and cranberry.

Somebody take Janet's keys, please.

And Anthony, thats PRINCESS Vespa to you ;)

Munchy wise, I'll bring you some grilled squash from my garden. It will be a mix of zuchini, yellow crook neck & patty pan squash...topped with parmesan cheese. Trust me, you'll love it!

And a gift for the new blog...hummm... well you know how bad I am about picking out gifts. It's so much pressure to pick out the right thing. How about some flat wear to match your new china?

By the time this party is done you'll have all the wedding registry essentials and will be all set to marry that hunk that Wystful1 brought you...where does she get these wonderful gifts anyway?

I bought you this dish for your new home, The Hook is a Maori good luck charm. It is a symbol of prosperity, abundance and fertility. I know you are a big Amazing race fan and Phil actually wears a silver hook around his neck like the one on the dish. Check it out next season lol.

August 11, 2006 -- THE rule banning "any liquids" on U.S.-bound flights from Britain following the thwarted terror plot is "going to kill the cosmetics industry," Estee Lauder president John Demsey told Page Six at the MAC cosmetics luncheon yesterday at Michael's. "A lot of our business is done through the duty-free shops, and it will really hurt us if people can't take our perfume on the planes." Ow wow, another Party! I've been to two weddings - Thursday and Friday and now I can party the rest of the weekend away over here. Cool!

I brought over my famous 7 layer dip (refried beans, sourcream, salsa, gucamoli, with shredded cheddar, motzerella and Monteray Jack on top), and corn chips to dip into the dip with of course. I also popped over the Greek festival that's going on here in Toronto called the Taste of the Danforth and I picked up some Chicken, pork and lamb souvlaki to bring to the party along with a couple of boxes of Baclava.

I also had a feeling that this party might get crowded so I picked up 20 bamboo torches that we can put up in your yard this evening, and some folding chairs so the crowd can spread out outdoors. Oh and some patio lanterns.

I must say the music is fantastic and I'm enjoying mingling with all the other bloggers. Oh and the Champagne is just divine! wow, what a party.

Good morning (or evening if you're on the other side of the world)

I like the idea of taking today's part of the celebration outside. It's beautiful here. It's sunny and should be about 80. My condo has a pool, so we could bring the party over there. (Don't forget the suntan lotion.) The lifeguard is about 12, but he's eye-candy anyway.

The music is still pumpin' I see. I think some Jimmy Buffet might be in order.

Plus, I can use the new sunglasses from Zeus!

yellowrose, you can email the button to cs94wahoo at hotmail.

I hate to say I won't be going into the pool. After all the bathing going on in this house, if I see water again any time soon, it might kill me!

However, just because you asked, Carmen:

Stands on his hind paws and grabs a microphone while his top lip curls. He places on the golden, dark tint sunglasses long associated with Elvis...

"Oh don't be cruel - to a heart that's true!"

Swings his hips back and forth causing his tail to whip quickly.

"Oh don't be cruel - to a heart that's true!"

Waves his right paw in a circling motion while continuing the pelvic samba below

"I don't want no other love - Baby, it's just you I'm thinkin' of!"

Carmen said...

Zeus, you don't have to get INTO the pool. There's food and music and the open bar is moving with us. :)

Karaoke by the Pool?! Perfect!

DJ, please put on "Stand By Me!"

Alright Folks! You know the tune! Sing Along:

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we see
No I won't be afraid
No I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me...."

Wow, I've returned to lots of singing, the caffeine must have kicked in, eh?? ;)

Carmen said...

Whew! Ya'll are some partiers. I never knew that about cha!

There's a model walkoff going on over at Minx's. Men wearing women's shoes and everything! I can do the Ben Stiller Model face!

Zeus, I am so glad you did your elvis impersonation. No party is complete without one.

Tulips - woo hoo! One of my favorite flowers!

Nothing like a cold drink on a warm day!

Candy Minx said...

I'm just having a refreshing iced Americano with lots of cream right now. Maybe I'll wander over to the bar and get some Baileys to spike it.

I am meeting lots of fun people thanks for the introductions Carmen!

Laughs hard

We should have a walk-off like they did in Zoolander. I'll pucker my lips and be completely suave. No one will be able to win against my coveted cat-walk.

Hardy har har!

So, we'll continue to have a blast.... *lol*

*mingling around trying to balance my Tequila and limefruit, licking on the salt and trying to talk at the same time - and not fall into the pool*

Ah, what the heck, I'll jump right in, who bothers of some wet clothes??!!!

Hey, maybe we could have a wet t-shirt competition? That would make the guys happy ;-)

Anonymous said...

WET T-shirt contest? I'm Game! lol

!!!AAAAAHHHHHH!!! *SPLASH* Who Pushed me into the pool?!?!?!

Zeus said...

I'm too sexy for my fur, too sexy for my fur, too sexy fur sure!

Kukka-Maria said...

Well, if no one else has the guts to do it, I supposed I'll kick off the skinny-dipping!

Everyone get those wet t-shirts off and get into the pooooool!

Kukka-Maria said...

After sitting by while Kukka downs a couple of strong catniptinis, listening to her croon a heart-felt, yet slightly out-of-tune karaoke version of the B-52's "Rock Lobster," and watching her rub up against every person who dares make eye-contact, Kukka's agent pulls the plug on The Empress' fun. She places the drunk and beligerent cat in a travel crate and apologizes to Carmen for her client's unruly behavior. As the door closes on the limo, Kukka slurs:

"Happy Blogihousewarmingthingamajig, Carment, dah-link!"

Dodging the flashing bulbs of the paparazzi and the shouts of "Is the Empress drunk again?", Kukka'a agent yells, "NO COMMENT!" as the limo door closes and the car pulls away.

In all seriousness, Miss Carmen, with the new blog design, we expect you to throw more bashes soon! Perhaps Kukka will be able to come (if she gets out of rehab in time).

Um...I mean...NO COMMENT.

Your new blog is so perfect for you, and it is so fitting! Goofy Girl does an excellent job everytime.

The puppies wanted to make sure you had a gift from them, so they helped me back you a yummy white cake with rich and delicious white icing. With, little pink paw prints on top.

Thought I'd drop in and see what's been going on. Baby Bug is in her bouncer so I have a few minutes before she starts to revolt!

Anonymous said...

Woooohooo, I got exhausted from all that jumping and swimming in the pool, but I think I'll start the dance.

Shouting: turn up the music any one!!!

No, it will not be any belly dancing, I don't have enough of belly for that right now - any one volunteering????

Carmen said...

I'd belly dance if I knew how. :) Though the wet t-shirt would be out for me. ;)

I hope Kukka gets out of rehab soon. She's so much fun at parties. She's like the Paris Hilton of cats ;)

I got a cake with paw prints! Awwww. Are the pink? ;)

Pass a chocolatini!

woah after the fun I had yesterday at the party..I decided to lay low today in case I wasn't invited back!

Scone said...

Hi all-- finally finished my project and let myself out for the party. What a riot! You ought to know that I'm the designated photographer-- incriminating photos my specialty.

To refill the party table, I've brought some red-hot Arizona salsa and homemade tortilla chips, as well as my special Hawaiian hurricane cookies. (Just ask what they *don't* have in them!) And for a blogwarming present: a "taste of Las Vegas" chocolate assortment from Ethel M. Don't miss that part of your Vegas trip, by the way! The cactus garden is worth the trip all by itself.

Sure you must have seen my wife, Carmen. UK Red? She's here somewhere...
