Grrr. Argh.

Dude, what is it about hairstylists? I have yet to find one that actually listens to me, and it's starting to really piss me off.

I went in last week to my normal stylist for a cut and color. I told her that I liked the length and wanted to keep it. TWO INCHES later, my hair is shoulder length and really draws attention to my round face. OK, I'm probably harder on myself than is reality, but still, now I have to wait for the damn stuff to grow out again. (Admitedly, the color looks nice)

I left my old stylist for this same reason. Every time I would go in, I'd tell her what I wanted to do, and every time I went in she would do what SHE wanted to do. UGGGGH! For the prices I'm paying to get my hair done, they should be bowing to me and kissing my feet. Next time, I'm going to have to be mean, I guess. I should find someone else, but it's such a hard thing to find someone with recommendations, etc.

Thank goodness I have four weeks until I'll be the subject of photos again, and luckily, I'll probably be wearing it back or in pigtails for the majority of the photo ops. (It's hot, and I'm blonde in Egypt. I'll be hiding my hair under a hat)

Any bad hair experiences you'd like to share to make me feel better about this? Sorry for the rant. Just needed to get it out.

Girl, I feel your pain! I am now driving 3+ hours to Richmond to get my hair cut & (shhhh!) colored! I've found that I can tell within two visits whether or not I'm going back. But now, I'm SO excited to go in and say, "I don't care - within reason. I DO have to look presentable in an office setting kind of way." BUT THE PRICES ARE A WHOLE OTHER THREAD!!!

This is one problem I don't have... I wear a motorcycle helmet a lot so I normally have my hair cropped down to practically nothing. ;-) That probably didn't help eh?

I had lots of bad hairdresser experiences and then I found a hairdressor that just knew my hair and I liked everything she did. It was awesome to not have to run home after getting my hair done to have to restyle it before being seen in public...but alas, she moved away a couple of years ago. I did find another stylist I liked after a couple of more tries. She does a really good cut, but sometimes I don't like how she styles it (too poof-y...so I go home and de-poof), but then she went on a maturnity leave, but luckily she's quite fond of me too, so she's been doing me at home...and I just get to snuggle the baby while she does:)

I LIKE mine, but sometimes it's like she completely FORGETS what's going on. but she does color well... which in my quickly advancing state of grayness is VERY important

I'm sorry to hear about your hair and the stylist that didn't listen to you. I have had this problem in the past until I found my current hairstylist. She is wonderful! She listens to me and does what I ask her and if she don't think it will work she will tell me. She does a great job on my cut as well as color. Did I mention she is wonderful?! lol

I don't know if your going to keep looking, if you do, good luck.

Sorry about this...finding a hairdresser is a hard task. I have very thick, straight hair and found a local hairdresser who can handle it and does the right thing... It took me a couple of years to find her, though! She was on maternity leave and missed her, but now she is done with having kids, so here is selfish me being happy about it :)

Oh, and forgot to tell you that dessert for me has to have tons of calories. I normally just have a taste from my husband's dessert when we go out to eat. Fruit is not dessert! :)

Does this make you feel better?....

When I was still at college (I think you guys call it high school?) my mother took to me to some second rate suburban mall hairdresser for a well overdue trim.

When I sat down in the chair the woman grabbed my long pony tail in her hand and asked me what I'd like done. Before I could say anything, from behind her magazine my mother quipped, "take it all off" and faster than I could move the crazy hairdresser cut it all off in one snip.

Some not so pretty words were said that afternoon I can assure you...

OOO OOO, I have one.

I went to a salon in Dallas. I had been tired of the "supercuts" versions and wanted to treat myself, just once to one of those swanky salons in the strip mall. Yes, I know, swanky and strip mall...not compatible. But swanky on my budget nonetheless.
I asked for a 1 in. trim. Nothing else. She cut my hair to an inch off my head. I looked like Susan Powter. After screaming "Stop the Insanity" she said she did what I asked for and insisted I pay $45 for the pleasure. I left in a huff and since my gray was extremely apparent at this length, went to Wal-Mart for comfort in my friend L'Oreal. Because I'm worth it. When I colored my hair, I failed to take into account that because my hair was much shorter, the processing time needed to be cut as well. I came out with this nasty magenta hair. I cried and cried. "I look like a lesbian!!!!" My inlaws were flying in the next day. So I went back to the store, bought ash blonde, colored it again to tone it down, then shampooed 87 times to create a really brassy red. I even bought earrings that would underscore my femininity.

Now I hug those ladies at supercuts, and just deal with it.

Oh, Honey. I change my hair regularly, and I always have some sort of a "vision." When I find someone that listens, I treat them like gold until (and it always happens eventually) they stop listening.

I've found that they key is the consultation. They'll do it for free, and you can explain that you are looking for someone to listen. It shows you're serious, and it makes you stand out.

I'm sure you look cuter than you think, but it is disappointing, isn't it?

Hm... My new nickname I'm going to use is Baldie Hawn ;-) I'm going bald. About 60% (at least) of my hair has fallen off in a couple of months.

So, I would be glad if I could dare to go to the hairdresser too. But seriously, what can they do with my reamining hair I wonder.
