Can't get enough of weird news from Australia.
You see, apparently, Australia has a problem with rampant cane toads. I know I'd have a problem with them. Eeewwww. They've evolved to grow longer legs to migrate farther. Lovely.
So, in an effort to capture these toads, Australia has now instituted a "Beer for Toads" program. (Thanks to Dave Barry's blog for bringing this important development to our attention.)
But don't go booking that airline ticket yet. You may not want to travel to a place where there are snakes in the toilets.
And in all seriousness, my thoughts and prayers are with those in Cairns and the surrounding areas who were affected by the recent cyclone. I like to tease about the Australians, but it's one of my favorite places on the planet.

It's pretty amazing how whenever the government tries to tame or otherwise control nature, we end up with pretty disastrous consequences. You'd think we would learn someday...
