Friday Ponderings

So I was listening to one of my music choice tv channels (update: Directv went bye-bye, and they think I am paying them a cancelation fee. They are quite mistaken. Can you say hello better business bureau?) and I was really enjoying the 80s channel. After about 15 minutes, I realized I was singing along, word-for-word, note-for-note with every song. How is it that I can remember the words to "Dress You Up In My Love" (all over, all over) and Wham's "Freedom" (I don't want your freedom, I don't need to hang around) - even the rap in "Cool It Now"

Why you all comin' down on me
Tryin' to tell me what life is supposed to be
I know you're only tryin' to help me out
Trying to show me what life is really about
But this time I'm gonna make it
On my own.
Why don't you fellas just leave me alone . . .
etc. etc. etc.

Yet I can't remember to get batteries at the grocery store for 2 weeks in a row. Apparently, the musical section of my brain is much larger than the grocery list section.

I have another question for you. Why is it that when your alarm is set to go off at 6:30 a.m., and you roll over at 6:20 a.m. and see the clock, you get all excited "oooh, 10 more minutes!" and then you get the BEST SLEEP and are all surprised when the alarm goes off?
