And the Next Trip Is . . .

So I dangled a teaser about my next vacation in my last post. I know that you've all been thinking about nothing else, possibly even losing sleep over it, so I'm going to tell you where it is.

Are you ready?

Are you sure?

Here it comes . . .

We're going to . . .

BARBADOS!

We found an excellent deal on Cheapcaribbean.com, and then did some extra research and found an even better deal on Travelocity.com, and booked that deal! For about $850 per person, we're flying through Miami (with a horrible layover) and then to Barbados, staying 7 nights in the Bougenvilla Resort there and then flying home.

The reason we got such a deal is because we're going in September, which is the low season in the Caribbean, thanks to hurricanes. Barbados, like Aruba, is set outside of the hurricane belt, so the weather ON the island should be okay. We're taking a chance mostly with the travel to and from the island during September, but we've got travel insurance, so we should be fine. Let's just all cross our fingers that Miami doesn't get hit in September.

The Crane Beach here was named one of the world's 10 best beaches, so we'll be sure to visit that one.

Now, I just have to make sure I don't get sun poisoning while I'm there. I got fried in Vegas, and had problems for a month after. Jim will be introducing me as, "this is my girlfriend, the girl who is sitting on the beach in long sleeves and jeans."

Long sleeves and jeans on the beach?! Oh give me a break!!! Well, okay, I guess I understand the reasoning behind it all....but hey....you'll be in Barbados........live a little.

oh no! Vegas is easy to get fried in, what with the cooled pools and water sprays!

Barbados sounds grand. One of our friends thinks that is one of his favorite places in the Caribbean. Enjoy!

Hey did you know you "outed" the BF's name? ;D

That sounds like a great trip...yeah Sept is like smack dab in the middle of the hurricane season. DH & I got married in the middle of a hurricane (it hit Miami and we were in Tampa) but it made the theme park that we went too deserted! YAY!

I hope you have a great trip and don't get sun poisoning. I like that spray on sun screen...it goes on fast.

and re: VBS programs...keep looking. Here there seem to be an equal number of programs going on in the evenings as there are in the daytime. I know the Church up the road from us is doing the same program we did only in the evenings cuz they want the parents to attend too.

What you need is a fabulous hat! :)

Wow, that IS a good deal. I guess it's cheaper for you guys than it would ever be for us across the Atlantic.

Bummer for us. :(
But great news for you! :)

I agree with Tammi: a wide-brimmed hat should keep you nice and un-fried. In conjunction with a really high SPF sun cream.
