Weekend Update with Carmen

Since I dragged you guys all kicking and screaming into my ridiculous dating drama, I thought I'd give you an update.

Previously, on Carmen Is Crazy: Our main character, also known as "the guy" had called me on Monday after our date on Saturday. Rather than getting excited, I panicked. Because I am crazy. The call actually made me worry more. Let's just get down to brass tacks. This is the closest I've come in a while to actual dating, so I'm scared S&*&less. "The guy" and I were going to the same event on Wednesday, where I didn't know how to act with him. This is a social event for single people, so I didn't want to seem clingy or needy or anything.

Well, as usual, I worried for nothing. "The guy" actually called me on Wednesday "just to say hi" which made me feel leaps and bounds better about him. And then when we were at the event, he actually acted like we were together. Impressive, in a room full of single people, don't you think? We partnered up for pool and played most of the night.

When he called Wednesday, I mentioned that I had asked my boss about leaving early from work on Thursday to see the queen. He wanted to go, so we made plans to go see the queen, and then I'd cook him dinner.

It was rainy on Thursday, so we didn't want to go downtown for the festivities until later, and ended up actually not going because we found other ways to occupy the time. (Folks! Your mind is so in the gutter!) We did manage to drag our lazy butts to the store to get food for dinner. He actually ended up doing most of the work!

We've managed to touch on some deeper issues in our conversations, and I'm still trying to figure out what's the prognosis for this whatever-it-is. I like him a lot, so we'll see how it goes. I hope I can keep my emotions in check and not get them all squashed.

So, continue your prayers and good thoughts for this. And have a great weekend!

YAY! *clap clap* This is going good! And don't keep SUCH a tight reign on your emotions that you forget to let him know you HAVE some! He's probably feeling a little "squirmish" too!

Is "guy" going to grow a NAME anytime soon? Or does giving him a name make it too real?

The fifteen year old in me (admit it... you've got one too!) is saying "He likes you! He REALLY likes you!" The (late) 20-something is jealously saying "WTF!?? How'd you get him to COOK for you!"

Congrats Carmen, it sounds like you're having some serious fun... and you deserve it!
