Worry wart

Anybody know what to do to stop worrying? I come by it honestly, it's in my DNA. But I hate being a worrier. During the homebuying process, I nearly made myself sick, I spent so much time worrying. But what good was it going to do me?

So now my job is possibly changing again. (Side note: Why do companies do this? This is the third or fourth "reorg" in the last six months. Don't they know that it's disruptive and makes their workers less productive?) I'm not overly concerned about losing my job, I just don't want to end up in a position where it's like asking a baker to be a surgeon. I'd like to contribute in a way that uses my skill set and lets me use my brain. But I'm all worried about it - mostly because I just moved to a new city and certainly am concerned about the "out of sight, out of mind" theory.

I try really hard to keep the worrying under control. Any tips?

In home news, the painter comes today. I hope I can keep from getting a headache from the paint smell. But at least I'll be getting the icky green paint out of the room. Ugh.

Unfortunately, I would be the same way as you, Carmen. When I went through the house-buying process, I would wake up in the middle of the night, crying, because I had had nightmares that I had lost the house right after I moved in for some odd reason or another. I worried I was too young to have a house. I worried my neighbors wouldn't like me.

It kills you inside, doesn't it? ;)

Now that I live in the house, I have less worries than ever! How funny! I'm sure that as you give yourself time to adjust to your surroundings, you will feel at ease as well.

But never fear: You're not the only one to lose her (or his!) head while trying to move!

Now, let's hope the job works out the way you want...

Carmen... give it to God. Really, honestly and truly give it to God. Let go of it... hand it over to Him -- He will be more than happy to do your worrying for you. But He won't worry, because He has the whole thing under control. Trust Him.

That's the best tip I can give ya Sweetie!

My best advice to you is this: will it make a difference if I obsessively think about this? or will it change the outcome if I think about this?

If the answer is no then it's time to get up stretch your arms out and think about something else, you know look up the weather or what's on tv tonight.

Doesn't always help me, but it helps my thoughts usually remain productive instead of worrying.

I'm the same way. What works for me is not having any time to dwell on it.

I do hope the company restructuring goes well and that you are not called upon to do open heart surgery.

I was going to pour you a shot of tequila, but I'd rather sip appletinis with you and Irish!

No worries...

Don't worry, be happy!
(easier said than done, I know)
Hope you can relax a bit, I'd bring the sangria over since I don't drink tequila nor appletinis!
Good luck to youuuu (corporate policies are hard to understand...)

Sorry but I'm pretty much a worrier by nature, too. I try to remind myself that worrying won't change things but that doesn't help much. Hope your job situation works out for you.

I just cannot believe how much your Pooh looks like my Lucy

You can't see all of her in this picture, but she is mostly white like Pooh and has a black tail and a few little black beauty marks on her toes.

Can't help ya with the worrying deal. I'm a worrier. The only way I can stop is to sleep. it works, but it's a big waste of time. :)

Acupuncture can be amazing... the woman says she is thinking of a probable imbalance from your worrying and she has some points that will help. She says they can be stingy though and coming all the way to Washington State is pretty far for that, but there are some people who would know what points she is thinking of in North Carolina!
