Won't You Be My Neighbor?

I did something yesterday that I haven't done in years. I took a walk around my NEIGHBORHOOD! You see, developers in the suburbs of DC didn't really think that a "community" or "sidewalks" were necessary. You take a walk there, you risk getting killed - by either cars or criminals.

Well yesterday, I took a little walk in the lovely weather (80 degrees!) to explore nearby streets around my new home. People were out watering flowers, riding bikes, playing with dogs. I saw maybe 2 cars go by. Birds were chirping. It was really nice.

Enjoy your new neighborhood. I had lunch yesterday at Ellwood Thompson's, on the corner of Ellwood and Thompson. It was great. A super lil' grocery store for organic veggies. Try it out!

Around here (south Jersey) the developers have had a change of heart regarding the sidewalk.
It used to be that they didn't bother with them. Just build the homes and let the weeds grow.

Now, sidewalks are mandated by ordinance, so what we have are a lot of sidewalks to "nowhere". They end as abruptly as they start.

That's why I like the city so much. At least there's a place to walk.

Wow, and you didn't even get accosted by your elderly lonely neighbor? Did you see the new episode of Workout last night? I cannot believe Jackie has such a successful business with how unprofessional she seems...like the major flirting with female trainer Rebecca who is straight! Weird.

I would sell my home for a sidewalk! (and I'd LIKE to!) That is wonderful! I'm sO happy you not only HAVE it - but you know how to USE it! YAY YOU! Enjoy!

I would love to take a walk around here, but there are no sidewalks in the neighborhood either. Plus, the humidity and bugs make it the most miserable experience. I suppose I could walk at night, but then there's TV.

LOL!

Sounds nice - sidewalks are good, however.

I like to walk around the neighborhood too. I used to take Lilly with me, but she is leash and fence agressive and tries to eat the other dogs. People are scared of the way she acts. One of these days I should take another class to work with her on that.
I'm so glad to hear you enjoying your new neighborhood. As it gets warmer I hope to hear of even more adventures.

The only thing that would have made this story sweeter is to know you walked hand-in-hand with Crazy Old Man neighbor.

Now THAT is a precious picture!

LMAO!
