Back in Tha Day!

Rose is having a flash back week, asking blogers to share their memories of your teen years.

This was just the right time, because I spent Saturday night doing something I used to do as a teenager - BOWLING. I did miserably, didn't even break 100, but it was fun. And what is it about bowling alley french fries? Is the salt laced with crack?

After my friends and I bowled, we headed to dinner, where we played 80s Trivial Pursuit, without the game board. If you got a question right, you got a sticker. We were all covered in stickers by the end of the night. We got a little more lose with our "hints" after a couple of aussie-ritas rimmed with sugar. Sadly, I did not win. Because I kept landing on politics questions. You'd think every answer would be "Reagan" but that's not the case.

As a teenager, I was an 80s QUEEN! I kept notebooks with all the teen Bop! cutouts of then favorites John Taylor (Duran Duran), C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Macchio (is that even how you spell his name?) Judd Nelson, etc. Every year, our school would have a "spririt" week, and one day was "dress up day". Well, my friend Anne and I took that to mean Halloween dress up, and went to school as Madona, with mesh tops and gloves. Yeah, they meant "dress up NICE" day. Oops.

I also had legwarmers, that I wore maybe one time. I could moonwalk and do the breakdance "the worm". I was the Class of 1990. I was a senior cheerleader.

And I would never ever do it again. Except for maybe the music, but I've got my iPod for that. I could never go back to mix tapes!

Thanks for flashing back. If your readership flashs back I hope that they will drop by my blog so I can visit their blogs. Funny I could do the moonwalk too. My daughter was going to go bowling this week but the weather was just too bad. I'm laughing at your dress up day.

Hey where are your 80 pics? hehe

Yes, it IS true bowling alley french fries are laced with crack. What is an "aussie" rita?? Sounds fun! I would have loved '80s TP; the regular edition is too hard! I always get Geography which is my worst subject EVER. Gah the Madonna top and gloves! Great story!!

LOL! I can totally see you as a cheerleader! But I'm with you, you couldn't pay me to go back to my high school years!

I graduated in 1985... did the leg warmers and the Flashdance.

We had a substitute bus driver and someone had called up the school to complain that someone had spit at them in their convertable car from our bus. Our bus driver stood up for us and said that she thought that she had seen a Flock of Seaguls fly over at the time of the incident. So as we were leaving the bus that day some of the kids were singing "I Ran..."

I don't know who spit, I was sitting on the other side of the bus.

Ugh... the 80's... I know, I know... we've HAD this discussion before! LOL! I would need to go back to 1970 for this (when my teens began) ... and I'm not really sure I can remember back THAT far! :) Well... okay... I CAN ... but maybe I don't WANT to!

Ah, I loved mix tapes! Those were always a great, inexpensive idea for VD, too. (Or perhaps only a great idea in my mind, but nonetheless...)

I know what you mean on those politics/headlines questions. Seems like those are always the last ones anyone gets when we play 80's TP.

Uggh ... tapes. Not sure what's in those bowling alley fries, but it's probably the same stuff that's in ballpark hot dogs. Just ain't the same elsewhere.

My teen years are in the 70s too.

I gotta say, Girl, that I hated legwarmers. I know everyone loved 'em ... everyone but me, I guess. And I see they are back ... No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Legwarmers are back with a vengeance here in the UK! And did you also have a rocking hairband, kinda like Bon Jovi? (Don't tell anyone, but I had several, to match whatever tights I was wearing... classy, eh?)
