Thursday 13 v.8

Posting early, as I have a sleep test Wednesday night into Thursday morning. I'll visit you all when I wake up! :)

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen of the best movie quotes by CARMEN

  1. Princess Bride: Prince Humperdink: "I have my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Gilder to frame for it. I'm swampped!" (This is the BEST movie EVER)
  2. Space Balls: Dark Helmut: "I knew it! I'm surrounded by assholes!" (I could quote this for days, but my other favorite is where they're told to "comb the desert" and they literally have combs. Dark Helmut: (in his pith helmut) "Are we being to literal?")
  3. Office Space: Milton: "If they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire" (This movie is funny because it's so true.)
  4. Firefly: Wash: "This is gonna get pretty interesting."
    Mal: "Define interesting."
Wash: "Oh, God, oh, God, we're all gonna die." (Joss Whedon is a comic genious. Writer of Buffy. I'll have to do a whole 13 on Buffy quotes)
  5. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Professor Henry Jones: "We named the *dog* Indiana." (Sean Connery and Harrison Ford in the same movie? I could die happy.)
  6. Star Wars: Han to Chewbacca: "Get in there, you big furry oaf! I don't care what you smell!" and, of course Darth Vader: "Never underestimate the Force." (I was a Han Solo girl, thought Luke was whiney.)
  7. Tootsie: Michael: "For I am not Emily Kimberly, the daughter of Dwayne and Alma Kimberly. No, I'm not. I'm Edward Kimberly, the recluse brother of my sister Anthea. Edward Kimberly, who has finally vindicated his sister's good name. I am Edward Kimberly. Edward Kimberly. And I'm not mentally ill, but proud, and lucky, and strong enough to be the woman that was the best part of my manhood." (I can't watch this movie without laughing so hard I tear up.)
  8. Cutting Edge: Kate: "I'm in the mood to kick a little ass." and "Toepick!" (D.B. Sweeney. Can you say 'hello salty goodness?)
  9. Breakfast Club: Bender: "How come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we'll all get up, IT'LL BE ANARCHY!" (I had such a crush on Judd Nelson)
  10. League of Their Own: Coach: "There's no crying in baseball!" (The only movie Madonna ever made that was any good.)
  11. Ever After: Her Majesty: "And while they lived happily ever after, the point is, gentlemen, that they lived. "(Mmmm. Dougrey Scott. Yum - my)
  12. Top Gun:: Maverick: "Requesting permission for flyby."
Air Control: "That's a negative ghostrider, the pattern is full." (Can you say "volleyball scene"? Did it just get warm in here?)
  13. Princess Bride:: Inigo Montoya Re: Inconceivable!: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." and "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." (Seriously folks, if you haven't seen this, go watch it!)

  10. Oh, there are so many of my favorite movies...and quotes.

An oldie but goodie is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Just one of many from that movie...

with the preceding question "you remember when we were in Denver?"...and Butch C says "Ya, I had roast beef, Etta had chicken, and if I remember what you had I'll die a happy man.".

Oh well...you got me started now. I'll be quoting quotes all day.

    My T T is published

  16. Great list! There are so many great Star Wars quotes. I prefer Han Solo myself.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Breakfast Club - there are so many times I find myself quoting that movie!

Spaceballs - I haven't seen that in SO long. I know we went to the theater to see it. Gotta love those slapstick movies!

I must be one of the 1% who has never seen Princess Bride. I know, I need to.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I haven't even seen most of those movies. How sad is that?

    My 13 are up.

    ReplyDelete
  19. You have some really good movies on this list. Some of them I haven't seen but am going to have to check out.

    My TT is up!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wow...did that take some research? It's a great idea. I got a great line from the new show "Old Christine." She and her new boyfriend were kissing on the porch and he asked her if she wanted to go inside and sit down and she said something like "no, I like standing up and kissing when I sit down I get that roll over my stomache!" Not as funny as when she said it.

    Mine are posted.

    ReplyDelete
  21. we can have entire converstions of Princess Bride quotes! good list.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love it!! You and I quote most of the same movies. So good! Great list.

    ReplyDelete
  23. thanks for dropping by my T13 - I absolutely love this list...but you can't forget.

So I married an axe murder:

"would you look at the size of it, it's like an orange on a toothpick...I think I might have gone a little too far....aigh, he'll be crying himself to sleep tonight on his HUGE pilla"

    hahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Great quotes. Especially love the one from Office Space :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Haven't seen all of those movies but I loved your quotes! what kind of a sleep test are you doing??? happy thursday!

    ReplyDelete
  26. what a cool idea for a TT list and OH YEAH on the Judd Nelson!!! I LOVE that movie :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Great list! I have to say that I will be one of the firsts that DIDN'T watch Space Balls.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am a Joss Whedon "groupie." My daughter is a Star Wars geek (okay, me, too) but we both agree that if Joss had written the dialogue for the Anakin/Padme romance it wouldn't have sounded so DUMB! (I'm a romance writer so it bugs me doubly!) My daughter also LOVES Princess Bride and has a T-shirt that says, "My name is Inigo Montoya...Prepare to die." (whole quote) My husband learned how to say that quote in German when we lived over there.

    Great list.

    Thanks for visiting my list.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I read the Princess Bride not too long ago and I couldn't stop giggling whenever Iñigo Montoya kept saying "You killed my father. Prepare to die". I'm not really sure why. I guess I'm just weird that way. Thanks for visiting my blog by the way :D

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love Office Space...I watch it when I need a good laugh.

  32. LOL Carmen! (we both did quotes today - mine are not movie quotes!) This is a GREAT list -- I DO love Princess Bride! I haven't seen all of your movies, but they sound like they're all funny ones! I guess I'll get around to them one day... in my old old age!

    ReplyDelete
  33. You have several of my favorite quotes/movies listed here... I use the "Inconceivable" and "I do not think that means" lines a lot. And I throw in the Billy Crystal and Carol Kane lines too for good measure.

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL You are right... great minds think alike. I love those quotes. There are just too many great movies and movie quotes to limit it to just 13. My husband and I both love Princess Bride, too. We quote movie lines every day in every conversation. It's become a game to see where we can work them in, and if the other will even notice.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Office Space: Milton: "If they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire" (This movie is funny because it's so true.)

That movie is rated R so my spouse does not approve. But, I love that movie!

    pvtB)fs

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love those movies.

Another funny line is in Firefly when the Captian says that they will experience turblence and then maybe explode. (not the total quote, as I'm going by memory here.)

Oh and I also loved the whole Walsh Dinosaur scene too.

Office space is the best. We recently kept getting moved around a lot at work so I printed out a picture of Milton and his stapler and put it outside my cube. I had a lot of visitors for a long time. LOL

I could go on and on but I'll spare you. Happy Thursday!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm a quoter too. Love your list

    ReplyDelete
  38. #11 is my favorite movie of all-time. I could watch it over and over and over!

"I am the dread pirate Roberts. But soon you WILL NOT BE HERE!"

I've only seen "Princess Bride," "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones," "Ever After," and "Cutting Edge," but very good list this week. We're both on a quotes kick.

    Mine are up!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Very funny. Enjoyed the 'reminders', I'm not very good at remembering quotes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I loved the Breakfast Club and I had a crush on Judd too, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Love your list. Those are all very funny movies. Office Space just keeps getting funnier as you watch it.

You might try Kevin Smith movies. There is profanity, but they are so funny. Especially if you love snappy dialogue. Clerks is especially good. And Dogma. Kevin Smith ranks up there with Joss Whedon and Aaron Sorkin, in my book.

    ReplyDelete

How about...Tombstone...Doc Holiday (Val Kilmer..scrumptious).."There is no such thing as a normal life... just life" and then an interaction between one character (don't remember which) and Doc Holiday: "You're so drunk, you probably see double." and Doc Holiday wittingly remarks, "that's okay, I have a gun for each one of you."

    ReplyDelete
