Invisable cloak?

So there was this episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (every life event can be boiled down to a Buffy episode, just fyi) where there was this girl in Buffy's high school (Sunnydale High) who tried to fit in, but she was ignored by the cool kids, so she became invisible (the high school being situated on the center of mystical energy)

I think this has happened to me. I keep asking friends and family if they can see me, because I'm not sure other people CAN see me. This has been happening a lot lately, but here's a recent example.

I went to an art gallery last weekend in DC, and it's situated in a fairly large space. I would try to situate myself to look at a Degas or a Renoir painting, or try to walk through a doorway, and someone would walk as if they were going to plow right into me, so I'd move. This happened so many times that I decided to hold my ground and not move, just to prove a point, and this man holding his daughter's hand WALKED RIGHT INTO ME! How rude.

Ya'll let me know if my blog picture starts to fade out a-la Back to the Future.

And there's still time for the CASTING CALL over at Wendy's. I'm on a mission to get the audition role this month. :) So if you're here visiting from Wendy's, I've got some snacks for you. I make the best lemon pie, and there's enough to go around. If you're in a munchy mood, I have some Cheetoes and chips and salsa for you. For the dieters amongs us, I've got some banana chips. (they're addictive.)

I see you and pic is bright and clear!

Lots of rude people out there! Put them on ignore. I usually say when people plow into me, "Oh, excuse you!!". Let them know how rude they are being. People just don't bother to think anymore~

Wendy,ummm sent me.

....and fade to black. Oh, sorry, I couldn't help myself. I was in the director's chair this morning and thought that I'd add that about your picture, but nope, it's not fading for me.

And I know EXACTLY what you mean about public in general. Seems they're all or themselves and absolutely NO thought of other humans around them. I can just see the man....walking into you and NOT even saying excuse me?!! Yes, am I right?

Oh and for my field trip? The song chosen for me would most definitely be 99 bottles of beer!!! LOL

I again! Back from Wendy's, I'm loving reading your comments over there!

I can still see you. If the guy had a kid he may have been thinking, "please God don't let my kid break anything!" so his thoughts were elsewhere!
Have you ever watched "Princess Diaries"? People treated her like she was invisible and then it turned out she was a princess! Maybe you're secretly a princess.
Hope you have a day where no one bumps into you!

*munch*munch*munch* ... oooh I think I see you! You DO seem to be melting away though... not fading... just melting... (no, nOt like the wicked witch...)

People really ARE rude these days though! I notice it allllll the time too!

ROFL! Carmen... I LOVE visiting you... I really DO... but from here on out I am only signing Wendy's blog if someone ELSE is above me! (but you'll probably sneak in... hehehe...)

By the way -- you are doing an OUTSTANDING job this month! I truly do think you might GET that casting call! ;)

I just may have some of that homemade lemon pie! Yummy!

I know what you mean about being invisible! It sometimes happens to me when people are walking towards me. Are some people in such a hurry that they can't be bothered to see you? I just don't get it!

mmm, I haven't had banana chips in a long time! Yum!

I'm invisible, too. We should rob a bank or summat!

Mmmmm, yummy snacks!! I see you too, I'd yell or something to get their attention, rude people. I'm often distracted when walking with Lil' Duck, but never to the point of walking into someone ;).

I think in general that people are so self absorbed that they can't be bothered to notice anything but themselves anymore. Which wouldn't be much of a problem if they stayed away from me, but it really irritates me when they do something that could injure or kill me, like cut me off in traffic. As long as my baby doesn't get hurt, I'll be okay...but the day something happens to her...LOOK OUT!

Miss Carmen, I have a few thoughts on this. First, this happens to me all the time. I will be laying on the kitchen floor or in front of the bathroom door, and my human pet doesn't even look down to see if I might be there. She runs into me, and even sometimes, steps on me! Second, Miss Carmen, I think you should do what I do which is nip these people in warning to say, "Hey! I'm here, dummie!"

It's amazing how different people will behave when teeth are involved.

That's so funny - about people walking into you. Funny kind of ha ha as well as funny peculiar. I can totally relate as that happens a lot to me. I will also just stand there and let people plow right into me when I get fed up with moving all of the time. And when the look at me like I'm at fault, I'll yell "Excuse me!", sigh, and stomp off. That'll teach 'em.

I'm trying out this casting call thing, but I'm not quite sure how it works! YOur snacks look DELISH, though, and since they are virtual, I can snack away!!

You have to know that crazy chick, Wendy, sent me!

I'd take some Cheetos, but it's a toughie for me, as the very paws I would eat them with are the same that I walk with. I'm pretty sure my agent wouldn't be thrilled with orange footprints around the house.

On second thought, DISH THEM UP!! Who ever said it was my job to make her life easy?!

Hi carmen! love your photos! i've visited before but first time posting a comment i think. not moving out of the way is a much needed wake up call for people sometimes.

Oh and "Wendy directed me here today" (but i found wendy from your post).

banana chips & cheetos? hmmm. are you still strutting your stuff over at wendys? when I was there last, you were playing guitar...

Ooo, that pie looks GOOD!

I said "How's it goin" to some random person today when I was paying my rent, because I figured he was paying his and so we sort of had something in common.

He snubbed me.

Who doesn't return a "how's it goin?"

Happy0303 said...

Are those "crunchy cheetos"? My favorite!

Zeus said...

Kukka snarffed all of the Cheetohs, but I'll have some banana slices! They're just as crunchy, and I suspect they're a bit better for you as well!

Here again from Wendy's! (I'm so glad I found out about this from you! It's been much fun!)

i can see you just fine :-) however i'm only 5'2'' so i have the same thing but i think that's because tall people don't seem to look down too much!

Who said that?

You know, I often feel the same about talking. I'm convinced that when I speak it must be a tone that is at some frequency that my husband, mother and step-daughter just cannot hear.

Don't worry, we'll bowl over some people (or aliens) in Vegas.

Karizma said...

oooh, imagine if you really could fade to black and just re-appear infront of some rude person and just bowl them over! Ha.

Ok, I'll stop being silly now ;-)

Seriously, I agree. People are very rude these days and while that may make me sound old, it's true. Don't let 'em push you around Carmen!
