Aloha!

Just booked a trip for me and my mom to go to Hawaii in January! Woo hoo! (And I'm going on my miles that I earned from flying all over God's creation in Australia, so cheaper for me!) If I survive my Egypt trip. Another attack today :( (see post below)

Let me begin by saying that I never really wanted to go to Hawaii. I mean, I wouldn't have turned down a free trip, but I had other, more European places I wanted to go.

But my mom, she really wants to go. My dad says he traveled all he was gonna when he was in the army, and now the only trip he's taking is the one from the kitchen to the recliner. So, the good daugher I am, I'm going to take a loss on a week's vacation time and take my mom to Hawaii. Plus, I'll be somewhere - not here - for my birthday. (35. Ugh. Lot's of pina coladas that day.)

The more I research it, however, the more excited I get about going. The waves at North Shore are supposed to be huge in the winter, so that's cool. I'm not stoked about Pearl Harbor, but Mom is. We're going to pop over to the Big Island and walk on some lava flows, so that'll be interesting. Then over to Maui for a luau, some volcano sunrise watching and beach time. I'm going to try to fit in a surfing lesson (I've always wanted to learn, but in a shark-free environment) with a hot surfer dude. Maybe I'll get "lei-d" ;) (Bad joke, I know.)

I know what you're saying. "That's too much for a week!" Vacations with me aren't all that relaxing. Usually, I need vacations for my vacations. If you've been to Hawaii (Oahu, Big Island, Maui), suggestions are welcome. Restaurants? Good surfing lessons? Off the beaten path?

there's this handy little button on typepad that allows me to post 'in the future'- so I always set it to post at some ridiculous time of the night, I'd never actually be up then!! you know, I really could barely be an older sister- I was 35 in January- Aquarius, though- altho I do make use of my Capricorn cusp is the paper gives Cap more stars...
I agree w. Hawaii,- but I'd love to see the lava flows.

35 isn't that old... you'll live! Sounds like a great trip and a good time to go soak up some sun!

Hawaii may not be as cultural as Europe, but damn, it's SO MUCH FUN! And beautiful. Have a great time, and try a spam musubi from the ABC Store ;-)

Now this one is more my style! Hawaii - YEA! Cool blue waters, black sand beaches... I can handle this!

My daughter was in Dahab when she was in the army... we are glad she's NOT there now! But she spent 6 months in Egypt - and she LOVED it! I hope your trip goes well for you -- I will be worried about you while you're gone though! (can't help myself... I'm a mom!)

And you were right! I do like that little video clip under your picture! :)

So Matthew is YOUR boyfriend huh??? Well, I am not sure how to break the bad news to you then. I phoned customs and they told me to tell you that you could NOT bring him to Egypt with you. Therefore, I am volunteering to babysit while you are gone. Of course you won't have to pay me or anything to keep an eye on him. I am volunteering! As a matter of fact, I plan to keep BOTH my eyes on him and maybe a few other things as well. (hmmmmmmmmm!) :-)

Ohh I love Hawaii, I went for a wee bit recently. On Oahu I did these things USS Arizona, Dole Plantation, Waimea Falls (really neat waterfall, pretty to walk through), Diamond Head (really awesome view), and Hanauma Bay (great snorkeling, I even saw a sea tutle!!). They were all very fun!
